Is that YMMV on price or availability? Hate that drive 40 miles for no deal...

Almost picked it up today for $119.97. Mixed reviews scared me off. Would really like one and normally wouldn't mind because I know Costco will make it right but I would hate to loose a whole chest of food.

Just plugged mine in after letting it "rest" overnight (I had hauled it horizontally ... didn't know if that messed up the compressor at all. Instruction manual doesn't indicate anything like that but did it anyways lol).

In any case, I plugged it in and then went to get my cleaning supplies as a "just-in-case" wipe down. Surprised at how quickly it got cold in there.

Pretty quite overall ... very low drone initially at startup but very legit chest freezer! Two baskets will be helpful for quick items and tons of space for all my frozen goodies!

That being said, I've seen in another thread that Amazon sells temperature sensors that can beep or alert you if the temp changes beyond set parameters. I think it was like $10 or something.

Anyways, I figure w/ Costco I'll have some "guarantees". At the price point, I was willing to take the gamble lol. Plus, reading through the warranty supplement, it is 3 years but 5 years for the main components like compressor, etc. But only 90 days for "labor".

Probably not worth the drive, but there were like 20-30 on the risers at my Costco Stick Out Tongue I guess its not a "strong seller" out here.

Sounds like you did it just right. The 24hr rule is usually if you transport it in an angle where the compressor isn't sitting flat down. Essentially, I believe it's just to let the coolant settle.

As for the temp sensors, I've heard folks also replace the original so they can make it a kegerator. There's YouTube videos on that conversion if interested. All in all, $100 is a great deal
