Computers.Woot.com has various Refurbished/Used Amazon Devices on sale at prices listed below. Shipping is free w/ Amazon Prime or is otherwise a flat $6 per order. Thanks CitySlickerCD
You can use these amazon remotes on android tablets/phones and remap the buttons using an app like KeyMapper and control media/tasker tasks etc., even bring up the alexa voice prompt (on the tablet) with the voice button, its pretty instant too, quite useful.
For Kindles, is there a convenient way of bookmarking web pages with long articles on another device and have it easily accessible via a kindle e-ink reader?
If no one has answered you yet, check out fivefilters.org/kindle-it. They have a browser extension that let's you push articles to your kindle.
I tried that many times. 30 seconds, 40 seconds, 1 minute, nothing happened.
I left it in charge for days to make sure it was charged.
Screen never goes blank. I loved that kindle.
Sorry about that, I really thought it would have worked. I had to do it 7 or 8 times before mine worked. It's usually a good sign to see boy/tree. I never loved another kindle after that one until the oasis. It's worth the cost if you're a serious reader and like the page turn buttons. And it's much easier to hold.
$30 is the perfect price for that device. Not sure who all those people were buying them for $100+.
those remotes don't have volume controls - hard pass on that.
I still can't figure out why you would pay $40 for a non-backlit reader when their similar sized backlit tablets are $35 new. Yes they suck but they work quite well for reading books.
i personally like the battery life on the ereader compared to the tablet. now, maybe ive just had shitty used tablets in the past but the battery has always been lackluster
I totally agree but I wish the cheaper backlit ones were available. I read at light and dont want to bother others with flashlight.
Which one is the cheapest best one with blacklight?
We had one 4 years ago I think, the one with keyboard. Now it's stuck at kid reading under tree splash screen. No way to restart or reboot.
you can always get one of those book reading lights for a regular kindle, im sure its not as good as the parperwhite but it helps
and im sure theres a reset button for that older kindle you have, you probably can just take out the battery in the back
any thoughts on getting a cheap kindle to use in the sauna?
well, if you are going to get a kindle for sauna get the waterproof model, the latest gen PW4. Not sure I would bring my PW4 into sauna, the heat and moisture might damage it, maybe talk to amazon tech before you buy it and ask him if he recommends it.

there might be a waterproof type case you can buy for a regular kindle

I tried, no way to reset, but I will try Prologik's suggestion again. I know I tried every possible way. Maybe 15th time is the charm.

I am going to go home and try again, it's been off the charge for about 1 week, hoping it would drain and force to reset. The funny thing is we didn't even do anything to it, it's been sitting in it's case, nicely tucked away. Shame because it's in great condition because we had it in a case. Maybe battery got too hot/too cold? Something must have happened. I wish they had a factory reset button or something on these, probelm is the battery is impossible to remove since it's sealed tight.
It's also convenience, when it comes to reading books, seriously buying is so easy, and instead of picking up my phone and playing some random nonsense time waster, I would much rather pick up my kindle and read a book, even if it means few pages in between breaks or while on subway etc.
anyone have experience with getting a Kindle for a soon to be 6 yr old. She can work her iPad like a pro but want to push reading for her...
im not sure what you mean, are you talking about a tablet or an ereader? if youre thinking an ereader, the lack of color may leave her uninterested so a kid tablet may be better

Before you give up, I'd be worth a shot to take the battery out for a few minutes and reinstall it, then try the hard reset. It's easy to open. Here's everything you need to know.
