Subscription on ring is $10 a month for unlimited cameras and will also include professional monitoring if you have ring alarm system. Nest is $5 per camera and it is a data hog so your internet better be unlimited. And yes, you can have this without subscription. It basically just works as an alert system but if something were to happen you would not have any recorded video

Got mine during the last woot deal and installed this weekend.

It works with the existing doorbell chime so you don't need another one. The Ring makes noise too but you'd never hear it if you were not close.

You don't need a subscription to get the video. You get alerts and you can go look at the recordings. Not sure how long they stick around but works so far.

Semi annoying how many notifications you can get just going in and out of the door. Especially with kids who are in and out constantly. You can set it up to not notify you at certain times or pause the notifications for 30 minutes or an hour if you are going to be at home.

I had the original one and found the motion detection to be very spotty and recording very delayed. Not sure if this one performs any better

just moved and been waiting for this deal to come back. Had Ring 1 at previous home and it does what it needs to do! Ring 2 for $69 is no brainer!

I got this last time from Woot and after being on the phone with Ring customer service for an hour they found the FW that was on my unit was corrupted. They were able to remotely fix it and now it works fine. The condition was basically new as well.

Yes, but you can also use an amazon echo to alert you.

Can you use the RING doorbell without subscription? The subscription kills the deal for me.

Nest also costs more monthly. So it's a matter of seeing what will work. But yes, nest facial recognition is really great.
