Came here to post about this deal. Seems like a solid unit for a decent price. Any reason not to buy?

This is the price I paid and have been extremely satisfied with the performance and features. I've had it for about 9 months.

I have this receiver and it's done a good job for nearly a year so far. Problem I've had is with my 4K LG OLED tv. Occasionally, regardless of the hdmi source, I get white "sparkles" on a dark screen. I changed out all my HDMI cables and upgraded and it's still happening from time to time. It seems random and I'm still trying to figure out the root problem. If I switch inputs and go back to original input, the sparkles stop. They also stop if I power down the receiver and start it a back up. Anyone else experience this with this receiver?

Edit: also wanted to add $399.99 is the price I got it for at Costco back on January.

I believe it's the same price on Amazon:
https://www.amazon.com/Yamaha-TSR...B07QQ6Q7KF
How does this compare to the RX-V685 deal a bit ago?

TSR? vs RX? hmm.
EDIT:
my bad, the link is for a renewed model! Which may be an option for others, sure.
Also I believe TSR is basically the RX-V with better audio components/dacs...

Prior threads have had users stating that the 7850 is equivalent to the 780.

Sounds like a defect then? Have you tried reaching out to Yamaha?
Might pick this up and will be on the lookout for such things heh.

Anyone know if I can get this deal in-store or is this online only?

The Amazon model linked is a "renewed" version.

Black Friday 2018 timeframe appears to have this $10 cheaper. I think I'm gonna wait another month or two to see if it goes lower since it will be over a year old by that point.

Thinking about picking it up and returning if something better comes up around BF. Hopefully RX-V485 will be available under $300 around that time.

The 485 is a downgrade from this. Yes it's newer but doesn't have all the features the tsr does.

In terms of specs, this model is most similar to the RX-A780, not the RX-V685.

The differences that I can see between the TSR-7850 and the RX-A780 are as follows:
7850 does not have a middle foot
7850 has a 2-year versus a 3-year warranty
7850 has a fixed power cord versus a removable one in the RX-A780
Note some who have purchased the 7850 report that the 7850 does indeed have a detachable power cord. This is in contrast to the image of the rear panel on the Yamaha website.

I'm waiting for the RX-V485 price to drop, too. Yes, it's a downgrade compared to the model in this thread, but it also costs significantly less and is more in my budget.

Yes, I understand that but I don't need the extra features of this model. All I need is 5.1, 4K/HDR, BT transmit and ability to switch HDMI pass-through inputs while in standby mode. If I can get 485 for about $100 less than I'd definitely go for that.

Well yea true. I understand the 485 is cheaper but the guy above wants to "borrow" the tsr from Costco until something cheaper comes along.

Then steer clear from this model and wait for the 485 or maybe even the 385 to drop. Don't go abusing the best return policy and ruining it for the rest of us.
