How's the quality of this set? Looks like there's some mixed reviews.

I own this TV. It's a very solid budget TV. The local dimming is surprisingly decent for a 50in. Plus it's has HDR10 and DOLBY Vision. Not a big fan of Android TV but I just use my Xbox anyway.

I'd also like to mention it comes with a decent remote. Not one of those 3 button remotes that come with some TVs now days.

It looks like those are from a different lineup. The H8F (and even more so the H9F) are the good ones from Hisense as they both are a lot brighter. The H9F is bright plus it has better motion handling. Check rtings.

Different spec. This is their mid to high end model.

It's worth every last penny, and it's insane that TVs this good are this cheap. It's the best TV I've ever owned and I've gotten some pretty expensive Samsungs.

Some people don't like the Android TV interface, personally I really like it.

Edit:

My own opinion:

PROS:
Blacks
Cost
Interface (for some people)
Local Dimming
Colors
Brightness
Inputs
Aesthetics

CONS:
Motion
Interface (for others)
Viewing Angle
Sound (then again all slim tvs)

I owned the 65 inch version of this set for about 2 weeks. The colors were great and the black levels were solid for a tv at this price range. The Android TV interface is much harder to get used to when coming from TCL's Roku tv implementation. It was lagging and freezing too much and I had to factory reset due to Netflix not loading on Wi-Fi. The arc input also seemed to be a bit buggy with my soundbar. I ended up returning it and picking up the new TCL 6series 2019 and couldn't be happier. You definitely get good bang for your buck but the TCL was just much better.

Specs are great for the price but the set has a bad HDR color flickering issue that hasn't been fixed. Certain colors / brightness levels in scenes cause parts of the picture to switch between SDR and HDR. Ended up returning it since it's really annoying and distracting when playing games or watching a movie.

I was going to buy a LG Oled but then saw this set and bought the 55". Obviously the Oled has better image quality but not worth a $1200+ difference. Has all the image and the best blacks outside an Oled, buy with confidence
There's more to it than that. I went with an OLED because of blacks, but also because of off angle viewing. At the time the new TCL was a great option, but after seeing them at the angles I would be having, it was an immediate no. Gets washed out the farther you move from center.
