FYI, here are the button layouts depending on who you buy it from:

Amazon: Netflix, ESPN+, Hulu, and Sling.
Walmart: Netflix, Vudu, Hulu and Sling.

Both still have 2 customizable buttons.

It's probably worth waiting next month, these will be $50-60 during BF.

Early performance comparison.

So, I have a FireTV pendant and Roku Ultra.
Last winter during a snow storm we lost cable, thus no internet.
The FireTV was useless for anything without an internet connection. Would not let Plex run to connect to my local server. Roku worked fine.
Just FYI.

Is $20 worth it for the faster processor and two buttons? I am not a huge fan of two buttons that don't have some sort of display simply because I easily forget whats on them, or it gives me yet another opportunity to accidentally bump a button that shuts off what I am watching to go to that channels home.

Also.. why the heck doesn't the amazon one have an amazon button.

Since these units would probably be used for a long time, I would invest $20 more for snappier performance..

Fire TV 4K is $24.99, has more services,Dolby Vision, MUCH better RF remote. Why to deal with Roku for any price, but free?
The Fire TV 4K is $49.99, but I'm basically getting this for the Ethernet port, speed improvement and better remote. I currently have a streaming stick plus and use YouTube TV almost daily.

Also, Amazon has a history of playing hardball with other companies like Google. It just finally got YouTube TV and YouTube apps recently and they're negotiating with Disney+, which hasn't announced FireTV as a launch partner yet.

Accordingly to YouTube reviews, the Roku has much better performance for Plex use.

I was thinking of getting a Fire TV 4K for my sister to use for Plex but after researching, it performed poorly for Plex use so I decided to get her a roku, which works very well

Agreed. Looks like the performance is pretty much on par with last year's model and they made some minor changes to the remote, nothing earth shattering here. The last big change I recall was them taking away the optical port.

Edit: also, I just read this article a couple of hours ago, talk about timing: https://gizmodo.com/your-roku-is-...1838843249

Hmm I didn't think about Disney+ not being a selected partner. Currently we have a fire TV. I like the idea of the headphones connected to the remote to listen to the TV. I wonder how well the Roku will play with our Fire TV. But then again I could just wait to see what happens with Disney+ comes out.
