Was thinking for getting 2070 Super to possibly upgrade 1070 OC how much of a actual gain in 4K single player only games I'm expecting? Anyone done this or jumped to 2080, what are your actual experiences?
I jumped from 1070 to a 2070 super, huge difference. I game on Ark, wouldnt be able to get decent frames at epic, now it runs smooth at epic with 2070 super.

a bit off topic....i usually get my computer parts with great discounts from ebay. has anyone notice that they are charging taxes for pretty much every item? i live in california. I just notice that taxes were included even when the seller is from a different state.
Here's the email eBay sent to sellers:
Quote :
As you may be aware, 11 new states have adopted Internet Sales Tax policies as of October 1, bringing the total to 34 states that now require the collection of sales tax. As the impact of this tax law becomes more apparent, PayPal and eBay are making changes that will make Internet Sales Tax collection less complex for buyers and for you.

Starting in November 2019, the way taxable transactions are processed and how taxes are collected for remittance will change, as follows:
  • In states where eBay is required to collect Internet Sales Tax from buyers, order totals sent for processing will reflect the gross order amount inclusive of tax.
  • Once settled, the tax amount will be automatically deducted for remittance to the applicable taxing authority.
  • A record of the sales tax portion of the order will be available on the Seller Hub Order details page and through our Download order report.
Please note the applicable tax will continue to be paid by the buyer and you do not need to take any action.

I went from a 1070 oc to a reg 2070 and I saw a pretty big difference. Of course you have to take into account that I got the pny 2070 deal from a while back that only cost me 316 out the door.

Not a good deal. New egg has started charging sales tax.
You should move to Oregon.

I just cant justify upgrading my 1060 I paid $100 for...If I could get 50% performance boost for $250....maybe.
It's all about the games for me. Right now I'm addicted to Overwatch for some reason, and my 1060 is more than enough for it.

By the way, thank you for taking the time to thumb down comments you don't like. It's such a positive community here on slick deals. Also this is not a good deal.

The 2080 is slightly faster.

memebenchmakr is biased. You should use other sources when comparing two GPUs.

No one should be buying this at this price. Get a 2070s or a 5700xt, or even a used 1080ti. The 2080 is overpriced by about 200 dollars.

I dont think the performance gain over the 2070 super is actually worth 100 dollars more.

I have an RTX 2080

I wouldn't have one if my university didn't let me buy four of them for my lab.

They game nicely, but I'm looking for some fun things to do with the extra horsepower.

The way I see it, the 2080 is always going to be a "bad value buy" because the top of the line stuff ALWAYS IS THE WORST VALUE BUY.

What's good about it? I can run pubg maxed out in 4k and not drop below 100fps

What's bad? I am used to running at 144 gsync for gaming. I wish this 4k stuff wasn't being pushed so hard because it's really not necessary when you're sitting 2-3ft from your monitors. There's no advantage to the quality imo, HDR does way more, as does ray tracing.

So, in the end, I'll end up running my 2080 at 1080p or 1440p for gaming because I like to crank up detail and still get desired frame-rates.

The only space where i see resolution becoming very important and bottlenecks is now that we've finally created cards worth running VR on.
