I run Amcrest cameras, including PTZ.

First off, to the guy thinking he's going to wait for a cheap PTZ. It's not going to happen.

Speaking of PTZ, these are cheap, but they are great. I've been running 3 of these [amcrest.com] and they are simply amazing.

I also use Amcrest bullet cameras. I have 24 cameras across my properties, and 18 of them are Amcrest, and I couldn't be happier.

The guy saying that the reviews were bad, this is what happens when people who know nothing about electronics steps into the simple world of POE. Setting up cameras can be difficult for some, and instead of acknowledging their own incompetence, they leave a review stating that the camera is junk.

Right now, there is not a single reason to buy any camera that is expensive, as these "budget" cameras have so much clarity and wonderful night vision that they are more than necessary. I live in a climate where it can be 100F+ in the summer and -20F (Actual) in the winter, and I've never had a camera fail.

Hi kurozero

hint: <$90 will not get you a 8MP outdoor rated PTZ camera.

Executive summary:
This is NOT a PTZ camera

Hi Kyle

If you have a used PC get a POE switch and try Dahua OEMs SmartPSS
also you can look at Blue Iris or another VMS software

Hi Shortprong

Indeed - numerous review issues from customers for many IP PoE vendors, some of those reviews are valid - and some are from customers who really should learn a bit more about IP PoE cameras before making purchases. ( i.e. you do need to know a bit about IP numbers and understand security cameras have limits which most of us new to security cameras do not understand.. )

Advice for those following along:
Plan to do some DIY learning - ( example cliff notes at ipcamtalk - or other sources, like the Dahua wiki, youtube videos ... )

Very nice deal.

Dahua OEM camera.

Would make a nice camera for captures with good light conditions.

note - 15 fps, which works well for most security camera situations as we're really not looking for an action camera just one which can get good images for ID purposes along with what happened.

Indeed KCkid

Looks like Sasquach_man overlooked sharing that.

iirc Amcrest emails out discount codes for those on their newsletter list.

( note - typically only one code per account can be used )

update: please see wiki, or other posts on updated coupon info ( link on the product page )

Thanks Ginuwinqbin!!!

Sweet deal imho, definitely worth picking up

note: keep the dome out of direct UV exposure / heat to have it last longer... Ideally better in a covered porch or indoor setup.

Hows this compare to Axis camera of the same class?

You're welcome. Thanks for the vote of confidence on this. I picked one up to replace a 4mp LaView bullet cam. I like the fixed nature of the dome vs the bullet which may be "adjusted" by someone

You may want to read the amazon reviews about their tech support and charges on this model. 1 & 2 stars = 24%.

Hi man03999

Normally not seeing a lot of reviews of more affordable cameras vs Axis cameras.

If you're looking to save $, this should work well. You can also combine it with something like Blue Iris on a PC to add more "detection" capability to the setup.

Hi Pokymon

PTZ cameras are nice.. but as you noted pricey and.. larger.

For most of us we're better off mounting 2 more affordable cameras like this one to cover what we need.

PTZ are really nice when you need to zoom in and see what is going on.
( mall parking lot, farm, scenic camera -- like a surf / sunset / wildlife camera, larger property perhaps are the places I would definitely put in a PTZ.. )
