Well I'll tell you why not to do that:

I guess no one should every buy a computer or a phone, because something better might be a few months away.

Tread carefully. The reason these Walmart desktops are so cheap is because they skimp on everything but the CPU and GPU. At the very least, budget an extra $100 for a decent power supply.

FWIW, one of the few ways you'll be able to get a new 1080TI. (up to you to decide on the value of that).

Gamer nexus says these have pretty shitty mobo and generic ram and cheapo psu. But other than that, it should be decent, not great components.

Good deal for tthose who just want a computer to work annd play games on. No upgrades and such.

lol you should never buy a Dell
IDK, after brokt's point that makes a lot of sense. I got the the XPS special edition, from the best that I can tell the motherboard etc are at the very least decent and not junk. I didn't think of that aspect.

Here's an independent review: https://www.tomshardware.com/revi...,5627.html

Just be sure to keep the reviewer's context in mind. The review that I linked above was written when this computer was selling for $1,699, so, given the price, your expectations tend to be much higher. It is now selling for $999.

I wouldnt be so quick to reach that conclusion. Reviews on the Walmart site for this are not very good at all. Overpowered not a very well known company either. Not certain which Dell deal you're referring to, but if it's the one that was listed on SD for $12 hundred something, with add'l discounts that many got, it came to a little over a thousand bucks. Sure, the 1080ti is sweet, but just about every other component seems to be better on the Dell. On top of that, Black Friday's haven't been so slick the past few years so not so sure there'll be anything much better then either.

Anyone who buys a prebuilt computer usually does not care about future upgrades cause when time comes they will just buy another prebuilt. That being said, it would be very easy in this larger tower case to replace the mobo if you really wanted to and keep all the other components. Would have to reinstall the OS, but besides that not a long process at all.

Price wise if you need a gaming computer to last you 2+ years or a general computer that will last you 4+ years that can fill any task you give it, this is extremely hard to beat.
