tl;dr: Neither frontline nor frontline plus have any active ingredients that kill or provide any prophylaxis against heartworm (none, not even a little). If you want to know why I explain it in detail below... or just google it and you'll find this information immediately. No offense to you, but this comment is dangerous. Someone may think they are giving heartworm prophylaxis when they are not.

The active ingredient of both Frontline and Frontline Plus is fipronil which is contained in the oils of the dog's hair follicles. It acts upon adult fleas and ticks externally (on the dog's skin). Heartworm is a parasite whose larvae live in blood of an infected dog, are sucked up into a mosquito during feeding, and then injected directly into the bloodstream of another dog during that mosquito's next meal. The larvae circulate in the dog's bloodstream until they develop into actual 6-14" long worms inside the dog's heart, causing catastrophic consequences due to cardiac compromise. It looks like spaghetti and I encourage you not to click on google image if you research this.

At no point does Frontline (fipronil) have any effect on killing or preventing any stage of the heartworm lifecycle; it does not affect the mosquito, the heartworm larvae inside the mosquito/dog, nor the worms that ultimately develop in the dog's heart.

The difference between frontline and frontline "plus" is that plus contains methoprene which kills flea (not heartworm) eggs and larvae, sarcoptic mange, and lice.

I wouldn't use that particular coupon on such a low dollar item since you can only use it once. For example get a $40 bag of dog food and you'd save $16 versus $2 on this product. I also suggest YMMV for the title the coupon is not available to everyone who has and, in some cases like mine, have not used the coupon.

I suggested YMMV bc I've seen the 40% clip coupon on other product pages but not these, for example see attached. I have no idea why. Also check the petarmor link.

Can I only apply this to one item in the order? I'd like to stock up on flea collars but it appears the 40% only applies to the first one.

Capstar has been a lifesaver for my indoor cats. we always frontline+ them, but sometimes they get fleas towards the end of the month and when our relatives dog stays over for a few days. we put them in the bathroom, give them capstar and wait for all the dead fleas to fall out.

coupons don't work for me no matter what the item is. I clipped it and went through the full order process and nothing. Cancelled order immediately as it went through, but no coupon discount. Just getting the 5% normal SS discount.
