Is this better than the walmart deal going on right now? In terms of specs and components?

Way way better in terms of build quality. Processor performance is better with i7-9700 than i7-8700. RTX 2070 is almost similar to GTX 1080 Ti. Also, the quality of the components like the chassis, ports, Motherboard and Power supply...all better on this.

Totally agree about build quality. 1080ti IS currently better than the 2070 however. Also overpowered comes with a 2 year warranty and 32 gigs of ram (albeit it 2400 vs 2666) vs the 16 gigs of ram here.

On this page https://deals.dell.com/en-us/mpp/...4737172350, under Alienware Aurora Gaming Desktop, it says in bold type "This configuration is not available in California." Weird. I thought Dell is forcing us to upgrade to 32GB RAM (which is not badly priced by thee way) or get water cooling for an additional $50 but I added OP's configuration to my cart for the heck of it while logged in with my California address. On the checkout page, it shows my Ca tax just fine along with the State Environmental Fee. I don't need this desktop so I didn't actually check it out. Just wanted to give a heads-up to Ca residents.

Was just thinking of getting another desktop, this one is very tempting. First I see the Walmart listing, and now this much better Alienware listing. Makes me wonder if I should hold out for a better deal to reveal itself, maybe around the holidays.

So this deal is already dead...

Isn't this the same configuration as the previous Dell $200 Visa Gift Card deal (https://slickdeals.net/f/13359358-alienware-aurora-desktop-200-visa-gc-i7-9700-16gb-ddr4-1tb-ssd-rtx-2070-1261-free-shipping) except for the DVD-RW Drive?

Tough to compare. First, at the time the earlier deal went up, TCB had 10% cash back which helped sweeten it quite a bit. Some missed the 10%, but after they had 4% cash back. Don't know what they have now for cash back. Second, Dell was pretty freely giving credit for delays and price changes on different deals. I got a credit/refund through chat of $143 which was roughly 10% on my build when tax was included. When you added it all up the earlier one was probably a little less than this, but close enough on this and other recent deals that it's not worth anyone getting really concerned with. There have been a number of good deals lately, most are competitive. Seems like a good time to buy a desktop if you need one.

Has anyone contacted Dell customer service to see if this deal is completely dead or just temporarily out of stock?
