Hey Guys,

Have been watching prices of the Samsung Q70R and Q80R soundbars and putting in offers and have received these counter offers today. You guys already know the deal with Greentoe, you put in an offer, receive a counter offer from authorized retailers, and you get your items with full Samsung Warranty. Cool concept and solid experiences to far.

I had bought the Q90 a few weeks ago for my Basement/Home theater it was around $825 I believe through greentoe which I thought was a great deal and scooped it up. Been looking for something for the family room and that's how I came across these. Depending on the use the Q70 and Q80 are still pretty great.

If you do get the Q90 just remember to do the firmware update, and any of the negative concerns you've heard about them are addressed in the latest updates.

Thanks for the post! This is my first experience with Greentoe. I received a counter-offer on the Q70 @ $449.99, did it take another swoop to get it down to $425 or did you receive it for $425 on the initial counter?

Also just a heads up the Q60 counter I received was for $300, not a bad deal either!

$425 was first try, was the 449 with taxes included maybe? Some retailers depending on their locations will charge tax on a product and then an offer on a seperate say Q60 would come from another retailer who doesn't charge tax in your area. Usually they send an email explaining if there is tax or no with your counter offer explaining the scenario.

Yeah it was brand new, sealed in box, and with full warranty, i double checked with samsung but yes 100% brand new. Greentoe doesn't actually sell you the product, they act as a middle man to negotiate a better price for you with authorized retailers. This is my rough explanation of how i believe the process to work (although I have no actual knowledge of it so its based off my experiences so far with them) So basically you tell Greentoe what you're willing to pay, Greentoe Tells retailers with stock that "hey, we've got a customer who is willing to pay $XXX, yes this is less than your price but this price will sell it for you. If this is too low, what would be the lowest you're willing to accept." That becomes your counter offer and you choose to accept or decline. You get an invoice from the retailer, they ship you the device, they would handle any returns or exchanges, greentoe doesn't do any of that. They just get you the best deal.

so do you know who the seller is at the end of the process? Or is greentoe considered the seller?

Yes you do know who the seller is once your offer is accepted. They've all be stores I recognize and have good reviews from my experience. You're even provided with their contact info and the invoice from the retailer. As part of this process you are just asked to not share the names publicly on forums and the like. I believe it's because some manufacturers set pricing limits and by going below that a retailer can get penalized. So this is a way for everyone to benefit.

$200 gets you the rear speakers for a more "true" surround sound. Really depends if you have the room set up for it, or if it actually matters to you. I went with the Q90 because I wanted the rear speakers, but for $200 less I may have went with the Q80. All 3 systems sound great to me, so I probably fell victim for going for the highest tier that I could afford haha.

I might just go with the Q80. I went to check these things out in person at best buy and they're much bigger than I was picturing.

I'm switching to a soundbar because we just moved into a new house and my 5.1 Ascend Acoustics + HSU setup doesn't "fit" the decor lol. Not sure I can pull off those rears and this point (though it is nice that they just need to be plugged into an outlet).
