FWIW I play with TA1s and they are awesome.

Don't let the price spook you. Dick's owns the Tommy Armour brand, so they can make them for less.

$400 for Tommy Armours? Hard pass.

Tommy Armour is low tier like Powerbilt, Pinemeadow, Tour Edge, etc...

You clearly don't have any idea what you are talking about.

Who in their right mind would spend 400 on TA irons? Terrible deal. There are so many better options out there in this price point. Go buy a prior year model from a local shop or online.

I have to agree with you. I have heard nothing but good things about Tommy Armour. Also, I have a Tour Edge Exotics driver that I absolutely love.

The golf industry has been insanely successful at getting grown men to believe that dollar + brand means they will play better, while probably never moving their handicap at all until they take lessons. This golf club is produced in the exact same factory as much more expensive brands, but is owned by Dick's so does not have to market it and upcharge. This reminds me of when Kirkland balls came out - everyone said they are crap - UNTIL someone said they are "rebranded PRO V1's" - then it was okay to play them without being chastised. Such an ego game.

But this is not a deal. First, this price can be had just about anywhere at anytime. Second, these clubs will be worth ZERO on trade in or craigslist. Why would anyone buy this when you buy a new set of TM's, Cally's, Mizuno from 2017 for the same price?

Here is a FORGED Cobra Tour club with Tungsten and Thermoplastic inserts for 420!? Are you all insane that you would rather buy Dicks brand golf clubs for the same prices?

It doesn't matter if these clubs are just as good as the brand names. At $400, these are not a "deal" and brand name clubs that are worth more go on sale for way less than $400 all the time.

If you're just starting out, it really doesn't matter what brand of clubs you get. Doesn't matter if you get the Epic forged or Tommy Armour... you can get a basic set of irons and wedges and get a basic putter. Learn how to swing, and when you've learned how to swing, go for a club fitting to see what clubs, length, lie, etc. are right for you. Buying $2000 clubs don't really help that much if you don't know how to swing the club. So might as well get a starter set. And once you've learned, spending $2000 for clubs that don't fit right for you won't be any good either.

27° 7 iron my god! Talk about extremely strong lofted clubs. I'd say a standard 7 iron is 31-35°. Basically hitting a 5/6 iron and pretending it's a 7. Im sure they're good clubs but I'd rather buy a used set for the same price of a better known company.
