How this one compares to Sun Joe 22 Inch 3.5A trimmer that was on deal here -> https://slickdeals.net/f/13428061-sun-joe-22-3-5-amp-electric-hedger-trimmer-22-15

Newbie here, hence inquiring if someone can chime in.

TIA.

Two different types of tools really. You're not going to fell a tree with the Sun Joe or do very well beyond 0.5" thick branch or so. Trimming hedges with the chainsaw is possible but probably overkill and a lot more bulky.

A lot of these are around this price. Practically any with a cord will always be around $50 as average price.

This is a step up from the HF (and I love HF stuff) saw that is 9amp and 14'. That said, I'll get this till the HF Lynxx 40v goes on a good sale!

Not sure about this specific chainsaw but, you'd be surprised at how much HF is stepping up it's quality on some of its tools. It's actually trying to go after snap-on customers with it's Icon line!

I'm in the market for an electric corded or battery powered chainsaw so I looked on harbor freights and home depots websites. Harbor freight only has a 14" 9amp for the same price. I've used a 14" chainsaw once and never again. 9amp seems kind of weak too. Home Depot had some 16" 12amp ones but they were much more expensive. This seems like a really good deal. I have a whole bunch of greenworks 40amp tools, including a lawnmower and they all work great. I was tempted to get the 40amp chainsaw to match but battery powered chainsaws just seem like a bad idea to me.

That's funny - I thought the same thing about a corded chainsaw. I consider a battery-operated chainsaw to be safer because there is no tripping, jerking, or electrical shock hazard from the cord.

At any rate, I have the GreenWorks 40V battery chainsaw and have been very impressed with it. With a 4.0A or 5.0A battery, it will cut for 15-20 minutes. Don't bother with the 2.0A batteries, though. You will get more like 5 minutes with those. I've handled 10-12" trees with it. You do need to check the chain tension frequently, though.

I would say that they are both about same. The technology for chainsaw is not complex and the one made for HF is made by Portland. The one I have form HF has served me about 3+ years and I have used it on 2 feet diameter trees.

The greenworks has a better warranty, 4 years vs HF 90 day.
