Good price. Bought 2 for $160 as I needed it in a rush. They're not the greatest but I haven't had any negatives yet.

A bunch of up votes and no comments? I actually do like the Samsonite brand, their warranty was pretty good when my luggage was broken by the airline.

What is the consensus best luggage set for roughly the same amount?

I have the 28" Omni. The thing is massive. It holds way more than 50 lbs. So overpacking/or having a 3/4 filled suit case weighing 50 lbs is possible. Otherwise it is a beautiful tough suitcase. Paid $59 for it on Black Friday 2018.

I bought 160 or less from costco few months ago (for 2 bags) They are pretty good, but for small size if you add heavy loads then wheel might make some rolling problems, it wasn't smooth as when I first bought it. Bigger bag didn't have any problems yet. 😄😁

How much of a weight difference would you have with a harder shell like this, vs the old fabric type? Either way, seems like a fair price vs what I've seen in-store lately

How do these compare to the Amazon Basics hard side luggage? They don't seem very bad especially for the price I got them at. I am debating on upgrading if these are much better.

Would not recommend the Samsonite Omni.

One year in with weekly trips with the 20", one of the rear wheels lost its tire, so I had to replace it out-of-warranty.
A few months later, the other rear wheel lost its tire, but I don't really want to sink more money into this bag.

I have never had this experience with my 2 older Samonsite bags, which were each used weekly for 2 years. They are still used by family members for trips.
Worst I've dealt with these older bags is the handle not sliding in/out smoothly.

I would recommend the Samsonite Omni.

I've taken it to a few trips to Asia, across country, and continents. Not weekly trips; however, as frequent as a person who takes one to a few vacations a year does so the majority of us. Gravel, cement, anything the wheels were meant for, no problems with them at all. It's been dropped aggressively handled, thrown, and still has 0 scratches. It's also a beautiful design in my opinion! No issues with it thus far! If you're on the fence, get it!
