So I never purchased any phone from a third party site. Hence, I have couple of questions.

1. I currently have a Sprint number. Can I use this phone right away after I put the SIM card inside?

2. Can this phone be unlocked in the future by contacting Sprint?

You have to get a new sim from Sprint and then call them to activate it. It has to be on Sprint network for I believe 50 days postpaid before they will unlock it.

That's correct Smilie Just needs to on a Sprint postpaid line for 50 days and they'll unlock it (I've never personally run into problems with reps doing it so far, fortunately).

Here's the link to the unlock policy if anyone needs it: https://www.sprint.com/en/legal/u...evice.html

I didn't need to get new sim. I did activate eBay bought phone via spring account page. I believe there is fee if you do it store.

All US carrier versions end in "U". The US Unlocked version ends in "U1". They are the same hardware; the only difference is the ROM (you can flash either to the other). For the carrier models ('U'), they will automatically switch between the carrier ROMs as long as the phone is SIM-unlocked. This means that if you buy an unlocked AT&T model, it'll switch to Verizon firmware if you stick in a Verizon SIM, for example.

The S8 through S10 (and Note 8 and 9) are like this. Samsung adds this feature via an update months after they release a phone (so not on the Note 10 yet). Also, flashing the U1 firmware will not SIM-unlock the phone; do that yourself before the fact.

Tl;Dr: All US carrier and US Unlocked Note 9's have the same hardware (LTE bands); you use need to make sure they're SIM unlocked. When you stick in your SIM, it'll adapt to your carrier.
