Low voltage to a control box near the plug would have been a better design! Either way; extension cord is needed as I read that the cord is only 7 feet in ratings! They should have made them 15 feet; could have reached the house!

I like using the timer for indoor lights when I wake in the morning but for outdoor a simple on at dusk for 4 or 8 hour run is much easier. Don't have to redo timers as the seasons change, it's a plug it in and forget it deal until it fails and for the cost it's cheap.
