Bought this from target for retail $. I have been happy with it. It is reasonably quiet on the 2 lower settings. Pretty loud on highest setting, but that is expected (lots of air movement = noise). It's hard to determine effectiveness, but it seems to improve air quality in my office and the UV feature is reassuring, but also tough to tell if it really does anything. I would definitely buy this for the price!

I had bought a 2 pack from Costco a few years ago and still going strong. I use them in the kids room and the blue light for the UV is a nice little night light. The pre filter is washable, I haven't changed the main filter.

I wouldn't wash the main filter, which should be replaced every 6 mo. The pre-filters can be dusted off but I'd stil replace them every 4-6 weeks.

A side benefit to this model is that the pre-filters are cheap and very useful for snagging pet hair.

Quick Kohl's question. I ordered with the wrong CC for pickup and want to cancel it, but it won't let me ("Your order is being processed and can't be canceled"). If I just don't pick it up will the charge be reversed and the order cancelled after a few days?

They always scare me too. The issue is if you go look at heaters on amazon (lasko) you will see the same. Ive had my germ guardian on for 4-5 years 24 7 and no issues at all. However, based on SD opinions it seems Winix ones are better and do a better job. I don't have a winix to compare, but if your a researcher you may want to look at that.

Update: I just looked again, I do have this model.. It has been on 4-5 years 24 7

Yeah it will automatically cancel. I think it takes about a week or so though. Might be able to call the store direct and have them manually cancel.

For every one bad review there's always many more positive ones.

That being said. My GermGuardian also has been on for 5 years 24/7. I switched to the cheaper filters found on Amazon about a year ago vs the name brand and it also works great!
