This monitor uses 6-bit eIPS panel (model LM240WU8-SLA2 16.7M color from 6bit + a-frc) by LG and does not really have the greatest color.

Check out the u2415 - similar 16:10 display, thinner bezel, adds HDMI. No DVI or VGA. I like it - crisp text, good color. Tweaked it a bit with my x-rite calibrator and didn't really need it out of the box.
Looks amazing, but alas, the cheapest I could find for the u2415 was double the price of this one No1

Man. This is a great price! Great monitor for an average user. I'm not a professional gamer but the monitor worked for me for gaming. DOTA2. And PUBG.

Excellent color accuracy on this monitor. Very good low cost option if you do any light photo editing.

How does this compare to this which is similarly priced?

I have 2 of these and love them. 16:10 aspect ratio is awesome. I've actually been looking to get three U2415 monitors for myself and give the two U2412M to my wife, but this is such a good price I might just go with a 3rd one of these instead.

Im dumb.. please explain what is so special abt this ratio?
This display is 1920x1200 where most monitors are 1920x1080 and can be turned vertically, which results in extra width. This is especially useful when used in an office viewing documents. Most users will have this as their secondary display (which is how I use them).

I wish dell would release a new version of this monitor
Check the U2415, has a nice thin bezel compared to this

Those who knock this deal seem to be gamers or movie watchers and don't realize the vast majority of monitors being used are in an office environment
Many point out "better" deals however most of those deals aren't 16x10 aspect ratio
The 16x10 is far superior than 16x9 for office use, especially in portrait mode (word, excel, pdf, web, etc)
This is quite possibly one of the best office monitors at any price, and at $100, it's a steal
Calling this monitor obsolete because it's old is ignorant
Like calling a ten year old hammer obsolete

I wanted the 1200p so bad compared to the 1080p version I just didn't have the few extra bucks back in 2012. Funny though one of my newer died and I had to get my good old ultrasharp out and it's still working.

Thank you! I bought this last go around when it was $120, immediately regretted not getting 2 of them - now I've remedied that.
