I'm buying these because if I don't, I will need them soon after.

Well, I can't answer your question, but if you are going to use them a lot, you might consider ones with replaceable tips. They have the advantage that you can get tips of various diameters and straight, right angle, and 45 degree, and obviously you can replace them. The disadvantage is that the tips tend to come loose, and always at the worst moment. I've had a Craftsman pair that are so old, they were made in the US!

I heard snap ring tools are a hit and miss in quality due to the tips. Are these any good?

I have those ones as well, but I'm starting to loose tips on bigger stuff rings say for the ball joints and stuff. Hoping these tips are stronger

You don't need these until you need them...just get a set, so much less frustrating than trying to pry them off with a couple screw drivers.
I have a couple different sizes but they weren't big enough for a snap ring on a water pump, ended up grinding the tips of a set of channel locks. It worked perfectly. Wouldn't recommend if that's the only set of channel locks you have.

Definitely spend a couple of extra bucks and buy a better quality replaceable tip style pliers. From experience, these stamped steel cheapie pliers will bend like crazy and the tips will break leaving you with a piece of trash.

This is just one example of the better style:

I have the Channellock version, which looks very similar, and have been very happy with it.
