This is a fun series. The first few books are extremely mediocre, but it gets better pretty fast. It's not finished though, and kind of seems like it's just going until he decides not to write any more.

He has talked about having a planned arc for the series. Wikipedia currently says he is planning on *about* twenty in the standard series, followed by an epic trilogy. It does seem like they are getting harder to write as he builds the background complexity and works towards an end goal, but he does at least have something envisioned for an end.

I would also echo other's sentiments that the books get better over time. The first three or so are just ok, but vastly improve after.

Also, the Audiobooks read by James Marsters are fantastic.

This is a great book series and the short lived sci fi series was pretty good also.

Edit: Also if you enjoy the series go visit St Mary's in Chicago. Pretty cool cathedral.

This is an amazing series. Listened to the entire series and can't wait for Peace Talks. Have an Audible credit waiting for just that book.

The Kobo version is a little over 300 pages. Wouldn't worry too much. Probably due to different formats.

Minor differences between fonts can really add up.

I'm interested too, but I'm frankly worried about Jim Butcher's focus. His last attempt at a novel was garbage (and that was the first garbage that he's ever written, IMO). Plus, the Dresden Files has been up on blocks for years now - pesky thing called a personal file. I'm going to wait and read some reviews before I buy.
