Kolchak was one of my favorite horror comedies. I remember staying up late as a kid to see it. It wasn't too scary because he was always doing something funny like tripping and falling when the monster was chasing him or making a noise while hiding. The X-Files and Supernatural are modern versions of Kolchak, but nobody can trip quite like Darren McGavin could.

I own the DVD set, so unless Amazon's streaming SD quality is better than the DVD set, there's no point in me paying $5 for a streaming copy.

Has anyone watched any Kolchak episodes in SD on Amazon and could comment how they look compared to your average DVD?

For those who like 70's shows with a sense of humor and don't own Kolchak, at $5 it's a great deal.

Was the Night stalker only one season? One season is the most it's offering.

I loved watching the Night Stalker series when I was growing up. Picked up a used dvd set on the cheap from Gohastings before they went under.

Yes, 1 season with 20 episodes, plus the pilot movie and The Night Strangler movie.

Is it in SD resolution on iTunes like Amazon? I never watch on iTunes not owning any Apple devices. Most likely the reason it's $4.99 on Amazon is a pricematch to iTunes. Amazon rarely initiates any sales themselves.

Nevertheless, I see no point in spending $4.99 on SD streaming versions when I own the SD DVDs unless someone who has watched the SD versions on Amazon can tell me that the streaming video/audio quality is no worse (and hopefully better) than the DVDs.

(I expect deafening silence on this subject)

Just spend $5 for the convenience of having it portable? If you're a fan I wouldn't think $5 would be a deal breaker, sorry have no idea otherwise of the quality, but... $5

I have the SD streaming versions. The quality is better than the dvds in my opinion.

As an FYI you can stream these for free on the NBC app.
