Meh, the best coupon code ain't worth much when the "sale" prices are inflated beyond normal retail

I'm always surprised the Vapor Glove has a $100+ regular price. I have a pair and they have about twice as much material as socks. They're ok...not as good as FiveFingers, but they also don't act as fashion-based birth control.

Anyone able to get the free shipping? I'm being charged $5 for economy. I see that it's free shipping above $49.

A lot of Merrell deals at REI.
https://www.rei.com/h/deals

Today 10/14 (extended to 10/17?), there is a $20 bonus card if you spend $100, and there may be another $20 bonus card if you are a member. This is based on the deal posted here (which shows expired because out of stock):

How are these sizes compared to Clark?
I used to buy 9.5 in Clark
Would it be the same size I should go for in this brand too ?

I prefer Merrells with the vibram sole. These for $50.69 are excellent.

I own the Merrell Moab and don't care for them. I'm an avid hiker and been on all types of trails with them. The Vibram rubber sole is hard as a rock and consequently transfers all the shock to your body, so not good for long hikes especially downhill. The hard sole also make it so the shoe doesn't conform well to rocky terrain, resulting in dangerous twists of the ankles and slips. It takes me extra care to go over this type of terrain. The rubber is also very smooth, so while the shoe does have good tread, the smooth rubber causes slippage. I don't feel safe hiking these boots on smooth rock. Also, I don't know if I got a poorly-made set, but the shoes are not built for comfort and are narrow in the widest part of the foot. There is also about no ankle support.

Only thing keeping me from ditching them is I don't know of a better brand. Can anyone recommend a different brand?

check out approach shoes, that is what climbers like myself use to get from the trail to the base of the climb. They are designed to grip all types of rock surfaces when scrambling up to an area or moving through scree fields. hope this helps.

Excellent! I never knew this type of shoe existed, which is perfect for what I get into. Currently looking at the La Sportiva approach shoe and liking what I'm seeing. Thanks!
