When I look at the photo of the Lego kit I'm thinking Lego is pushing the bounds of acceptable pricing these days. That kit really doesn't look like '$50 of fun', and I'd question the value at $28.

I bought this a week ago for $10 more, and I was able to get a price adjustment through Amazon chat.

The franchised series are the worst of it. I suspect it's because of the Minifigures and "special" bricks. They don't have the same amount of generic type bricks as the other sets. The little wands and gemstone thingies probably cost a smidge more and then they have to pay the licencing fees to marvel Disney etc.

If you stick with regular Lego stuff you get a decent build for your money.

You want licensed stuff you gotta pay the extra $$.

To be fair Harry Potter has the shittiest sets when it comes to building. You get great Minifigures but the builds themselves are way underwhelming for the most part.

Kinda funny I was literally just bitching about this set being a crappy build with awesome characters. At least there is a building with this one. The Aragog set has a tree. 1 tree. Clearly I couldn't resist buying it because, big ass spider, but I was salty about it.

FWIW my 10yo son chose to spend $38 of his own money on the set a week ago and really enjoyed putting it together. It seems on par with the value of the rest of the Harry Potter Lego sets.
