Didn't see this one on slickdeals but was pleasantly surprised to find this deal for Verizon on a shared family plan needing an UPGRADE.

They dropped the price of the XS to $859, and you can get a $200 Costco gift card even on an upgrade line. There is also trade available on top of that although I elected to keep my iPhone 6 with screen damage as a backup. A good condition iPhone 6 was worth a minimum of $100 but it comes as bill credits.

Assuming you don't buy something you didn't actually need at Costco with your gift card, that will bring your price of the XS with 64GB down to $659 (excl. tax, activation). Considering very good condition iPhone X 64GB sells used for values approaching $600 seemed like a no-brainer to pay just a bit more for a brand-new XS.

My local Costco was down to just 7 XS's remaining.

"Financed upgrades activation" and "financed new upgrade activation"
What does that mean?

Trade-in values for new lines vs. upgrades are much higher. How difficult is it to just add new lines and then remove the old ones? I'd imagine one big drawback is losing your old number, but are there any other downsides/restrictions to doing this?

Yeah, that is quite a doozy. Is there any way to switch phones and numbers around once you have the new lines?

You are allowed to do this with At&t if you have a number to port-in, you can even port your current number out to Google Voice and park it over there.

Can you clarify this? So you'd get $300 over 24 months for the lower end tras-in? Plus a $200 card? Edit got it, third one is for new lines.

Appears 11's don't have the cash card

unless you really need a premium feel and oled display. Unlocked iPhone 11 for $699 is a better deal. The camera on the new iPhone is probably the best camera ever on a smartphone. Apple trade in values are also pretty solid if you have an old iPhone to trade.

Verizon locks their phones for 60 days from date of activation, then it automatically unlocks.

you people worrying about losing your number just crack me up! If you would have ported it to google voice 5 years ago like I did you would be having new phone whenever you felt like it!

In my case, I was switching to a new carrier (Cricket), so I just started a new account with them, and ported my Verizon number over. When I did so, Google cancelled my Verizon account for me.

If you're getting a new number on the same carrier, you'll just have to add a number to your account, after which Google Voice will cancel the old number for you.
