Im in the market riding lawn mower. It seems the big box stores sent them back to the manufacturers... is it better to wait until spring?,

Depends on where you live. Here in N Idaho I think you'd have to as one would be hard to find. (Snow blowers are here instead) Not many sales in spring tho.
You might want to look for a used one. I've seen ones that are only a season old selling for $500. (That's pretty close to 1/3 their new price) Plus when getting used you can sometimes get all kinds of attachments; grass catchers, rakes, covers, trailers, etc, thrown in the deal and those things really start to add up when buying new.
Just look for one that has been taken care of, wait until you are in front of the seller and ask about what he did for maintenance. If he can show you were things are on the unit (filters, drain plug) chances are he took care of it. If he doesn't seem to know much he probably didn't do the maintenance and I'd pass on it. (Unless it was super new and clean and you feel the skipped maintenance hasn't started to degrade the machine yet)

As for these deck wash units, I'm going to get an extra one for my toro. I've seen guys add one to the opposite side to allow better cleaning and more water. Not sure it works any better but I'll try it. (It's just drilling a hole!)

If you want to go new, now might be the best time to buy since a lot of stores are clearing out old stock. They want to re purpose the floor space for in-season items so they blow-out all of their stock. It will be hard to find a mower in the winter. When spring comes they will get new stock and usually have a financing deal to kick off the mowing season.

In nj none of the stores have them. They all shipped them back to clear room for snow blowers

You really don't want to use one of these on your mower deck. The rust that will develop will destroy it within a few years. It's best to clean the deck manually and service it at the end of the season by either yourself or a professional.

Of course you are, that's why yiuret seeing this on the frontpage of Slickdeals.

I browse sd everyday, several times a day. I can't remember the last time I saw anything related to outdoor equit until I bought a new belt for my powerflow bagger 3 days ago from Amazon. Now I'm seeing this, and tons of other semi-related items. Shits creepy

These are excellent for those who like to replace their deck every couple of years due to rust, or who don't like the nice clean concrete driveway look and want to stain it "grassy green",

That's because they don't work and you're just adding water to the grass lol
