my refurb ea6400 is still running good, and has ddwrt

but ddwrt runs slower than stock, has higher cpu load.

Why not just by a Pi 3 and build a PiHole?

How would this compare to the archer C8? Not totally happy with that performance but waiting for better deals for mesh network

ad blocking is not going to work well on ddwrt due to processor performance.

PiHole is cool but once you go pfSense you'll never go back. I will never buy another router again for my house. pfSense can ad block and much much more.

I have no idea what you're talking about, but I run ddwrt on my WNDR450 and ad blocking works great!
But something that updates blocklists, like pihole, is better than privoxy, which I'm currently running.

Seems like every router deal sends a custom message to every ddwrt user to come in and tell someone that it doesn't have ddwrt.
