These are BC extinguishers. You really want an ABC extinguisher for your home!!! A is for combustible material (e.g., furniture, paper, wood, etc.).

Got the marine version for my jet ski and it went off inside the hull and all the powder was sucked into my intake. Had to take apart the engine and clean it out. Do not buy!!!!

Has bad reviews for poor handle construction and pin design. A lot of people complained the pin fell out and the extinguisher discharged in transit.

are you suggesting that we let the fires keep burning or that we do it ourselves?

Kidde 5-B:C 3-lb Disposable Marine Fire Extinguisher [walmart.com] is $6.22
This one has 2 lbs of fire extinguishing agent while OP's has 3 lbs, it is 3" shorter, and has a 4-6 ft range instead of 6-8 ft. Both are considered disposable.

I ordered a few for my house.

Better to have a lower-rated unit when you need it vs a 20-year-old unit that probably won't work......

Yes. There is a gauge, however, they should have a stamp on the metal and/or listed on the label when it should expire. To me, as long as it is in the green and you look at it everytime you change your batteries in your smoke detectors you should be good to go! Remember PASS!!!! PULL, SOON, SQUEEZE, SWEEP.
