Voltage Testers are good for verifying the presence of AC voltage prior to working on electrical installation or troubleshooting. -slickdewmaster

Thanks for this. When it opened the Walmart page, there was a link to a Klein Tools NCVT-2 non-contact voltage tester for $8, normally $20+. i bought 5 of them. I can no longer see that deal anywhere on Walmart's site.....so it looks like I made out!!

I like that Dual check one.

Anyone have any idea how the non-contact sensitivity is on this vs others? I've tried two non-contact detectors in my house both have to be virtually touching the hot wire before indicating anything (which.. at times can be kind of handy because it means you can tell exactly what wires are hot).

I've used some in the past that could detect wires in walls... maybe my house just doesn't have noisy electrical?

I have the opposite problem with mine, way to sensitive. If it gets within like an inch, it goes off. makes it hard to find out which exact wire is hot. I can use the multimeter for that, but it would be nice to have a single tool to check. Do any of the ones above have some sort of adjustable sensitivity ? That would be the best option!

Word of advice... if you're unsure at any point, please consult with a certified electrician prior to handling live wires on your own. Too much to risk here! Some reviews don't seem reassuring either.

Tell home depot to price match

Or buy it from Walmart and return that one to home depot
