Many Best Buy's in socal have 77 inch C8 OLED open box display models for sale. $2506.99 for fair condition model. These likely will have burn in from looping the same content but will come with a full manufacturer warranty. LG has been pretty lenient in repairs and there are many success stories of LG fixing burn in even though it's not listed in the warranty. I had purchased 2 65 inch C8 models and both were displays with minor burn and both were fixed by LG with new panels. This could be a cheap way to get a 77 inch OLED from a b&m authorized seller.
Best Buy will mark open box items as such on the receipt. You might have a hard time getting LG to replace the panel in this case.
It's YMMV, but I got one from Best buy and the emailed receipt did not specify that it was a display model, only the printed store one did. Can always buy it and try to have LG fix it and return it to best buy if they deny fixing
I just ordered one, and it says "Condition: Fair" on the email. It will cost money (and a lot of time) for me to transport this home and then back if LG can't fix it. Has anyone tried this before and had luck?

Prices are falling quick on the 77" OLEDs now, and this is last-year's model. New ones will be had for this soon, maybe by the end of the year. I wouldn't hassle with this scheme.

It's unlikely new ones will be had for *this* low. The lowest price has been ~$3700 new for this year's model. It's unlikely to go down another $1,200.

BestBuy called me just now. They told me the TV has 2 dead pixels and no burn in. They said that LG will only fix the panel if there are 3 dead pixels. Have to make a decision...

I can live with 2 dead pixels. Get it before someone else does.

You should have gone into the store to buy it...Best buy offers free delivery on Tv's over 50"
To get an open box unit delivered you would have to go into the store to set it up
Sick deal if you can find one and it's in good shape. I'd be all over this if I hadn't caved and bought a 85x900f earlier this year because I couldn't bring myself to shell out the near 4k for this TV.

They both have some pretty bad "lines" burned into the middle of the screen
But..if LG replaces these panels under warranty this would be a very slick deal
