Normally this hovers around $20 new and 12-15 used. $9.99 new is a great price. There are also a few in the warehouse for even cheaper. I have had really good luck with these from the
warehouse as well. I figure this is about the same price as paying someone to sharpen the blade. So I just replace it new every season. Enjoy!

$20 all the time price, $10 on sale. will last 20 years if all youre doing is sharpening a blade a few times a year.

I have a bench grinder and an angle grinder, but I usually sharpen by lawn mower blades using a file that can be had for $4 [harborfreight.com]. As long as the blade isn't incredibly dull or nicked from hitting a hard object, it only takes me about five minutes to sharpen it. I sharpen mine after five to ten hours of use, so they're usually barely dull.

All you do is file the beveled edge, maintaining the original angle, until sharp. I always hold the file with both hands and wear heavy leather gloves in case I slip. You should also only file by pushing the file away from you because pulling the file toward you will dull the file.

After sharpening both ends of the blade, I check the blade's balance by hanging it horizontally from the center hole on a nail clamped in the vise. If one side of the blade is heavier, I file a bit more metal from that side until it is balanced.

I'll use a grinder if the blade needs so much metal removed that filing will take me longer than five minutes or so. Otherwise, I find it easier to get a good edge and remove the minimum amount of metal by filing. If you're new at sharpening blades, you also don't have to worry about accidentally removing too much metal or overheating the blade by filing. It's also safer, since you don't have to worry about exploding grinder wheels, flying sparks, or getting something caught in the grinder. Grinders are legitimately dangerous tools, and you should never operate one without full-face protection and the guard attached to the grinder.

Even new, these blades could still use a sharpening. Learn to use a file to sharpen them...only takes a few minutes. They will last for years and years.

That is correct. I have the 40v 21" one and I believe that is the only model this fits.

I also found out that these do not work on my lawnmower! I have bought three sets over the past year or two and just now happened to check, and see they are totally different, doh! The amazon page is very confusing and made it appear that it would work. Now I cannot seem to find my blade anywhere.

from what you guys are saying this won't work with the 80v Kobalt/Greenworks mower despite 21" deck? I have this https://www.lowes.com/pd/Kobalt-8...d/50329213 and was going to pick up this extra blade, but if you're saying it won't work then thanks for saving me time/money!

the biggest thing is to match up the little connectors. These ones have a half moon and a circle. Mine (greenworks 21" 40v) has two caret symbols. I did not realize it, but when I did a search in amazon on 333041179, this listing came up. However, the one I need (and maybe kobalt 8v?) is this https://www.greenworkstools.com/8...ower-blade . This like is apparently the only place on the internet where I can get my blade.

I did a search on lowes for kobalt 80v blade, and this came up. https://www.lowes.com/pd/Kobalt-2...1000079957 The picture looks almost identical to this blade. Note the half moon and circle. So you might try it and see? Free returns for prime. Hell, if you are in my neck of the woods (Michigan), you can have the extra blade i bought a year ago that I now realize does not fit Smilie

Thanks for the offer, Cobalt_Blue_FF, but I'm in Gig Harbor, WA. I too found that 80v Kobalt blade you linked to and it looks exactly like the OP's deal, so I'm willing to give it a shot. I think I'll stick with my Amazon order in case it doesn't fit/work. Thanks again!

If the Kobalt uses the same blade as the GW 80V, this is the best price I've found:

https://www.rakuten.com/shop/fact...t0QAvD_BwE

I've been searching for a mulching blade (with more lift/vacuum) for my GW, but no luck yet. I called GW and the said they "may" offer a better mulching blade in the future. The GW 21" blade is actually 20". I tried a universal 21" mulch blade and discovered this.

I was partially joking as I planned on keeping the blades to use for chopping up leaves... but now that I realize I do not have the right blades, I may end up having to sharpen mine!

You don't even need an angle grinder, you could just get one of these and put it on your drill.

I got one at Lowes and it came with one of those balancing cones:
