FYI the CPU in this vs. the acer spin that's been listed a few times can perform about half as well as the Acer. The Acer appears to be a better deal on paper unless of course you need the red / pink look.

Thanks for the info. I got curious, so I did a quick search and I agree with your statement.

I'd avoid this, even for the crazy low price.

Cute, durable case. Usable keyboard and trackpad. That's about it for the good points.

I have the slightly upgraded model with a A9-9420e CPU which is theoretically about 15% faster. It's just barely usable, even for your most basic web browsing.

Gaming is basically just not gonna happen. You can sort of play something like Left4Dead if you turn every possible slider on a 10 year-old game down to the minimum. Even Enter The Gungeon doesn't run smoothly.

If you're determined to get this anyway... I found that I had to disable Windows Defender's realtime virus scanning (which requires a registry tweak on Win 10 Home, otherwise it re-enables itself a short time later) just for it to really feel usable. On a normal Windows machine you're barely going to feel that performance hit but it drags this laptop down into a sea of molasses.

I wouldn't exactly recommend for others to take that step especially if you're giving this to a kid or anybody else who is not a power user. Personally I'm a software developer and I felt comfortable disabling the realtime scanning because I'm not going to install anything harmful.

As for the screen, it's not great. Viewing angles are not good.

On my model, which came with a 500GB HDD, I was able to add RAM and put a faster SSD I had sitting around in there. It still didn't help. I'm not sure if the model advertised in this deal has upgrade options. I think the eMMC models have no SATA connector for a user-added HDD/SDD. If you're interested in that do your research.

My wife is using a 5 year old dell 11.6 touchscreen.. I was thinking of getting this as an upgrade.. she basically does facebook, youtube, and swagbucks on it and thats it.

Would this be a suitable upgrade for her?
