How often do these come up?
I'm trying to collect enough photos and then do one at the end of the year or early spring

These come up a couple times a year. There was an exact same deal just last week.

I was getting ready to do a 20 page 4x6 from walgreens. I think it would be $3.20 after coupon, although I might add some pages at $0.40/page. So maybe $4.80 for 24 pages. I wonder if this 8x8 is a better deal, I could fit more than one photo per page so I could stay within the 20 pages and probably fit more total photos than I could with the 4x6. Decisions, decisions...

The Walgreens photobooks are very different. They are basically a 1-photo per page on a ring binder type spine. The Shutterfly books are much more like regular books in my opinion. They're nice in a different way but the Walgreens ones are definitely much smaller (8x8 is 2.5 times larger surface than 4x6 roughly). It's kinda hard to compare them unless you have them side by side. There's no doubt you'll fit more pictures in the 8x8 books unless you resize up the photos. Personally, I often fit 40-50 photos in a 8x8 book. Just don't stick the edge of the photos too close to the center/spine of the book or it'll be hard to see them there.

thanks for the thoughts, repped!

btw - the walgreens book I was referring to is a softcover, not the ringed type: https://photo.walgreens.com/store/photo-books (scroll down to the 4x6).

You're right that the 8x8 is nicer, but I could get 2 20 page softcover 4x6 books for $6.40 total. I'll start looking at the 8x8 shutterfly book and see if I like it enough to pay 2x the price. Its for a 2 night summer road trip, not sure I even have enough pictures for an 8x8. laugh out loud
