For the people with portable necessities here you have some research from competitors.

TDP 35w vs 15w (min)
TDP 45w vs 25w (max)
Single core 1065g7 is 11% better
Multicore 9750h is 53% better

The prices for the same specs in each laptops are similar ~1000 more or less. The difference is usually the battery life and the the weight.

If this has same FHD display that XPS has, then it's killer deal.

Been waiting for a deal on a 15" hp spectre. Assuming at this point maybe black Friday. Not extreme computer savvy. Anyone mind chiming in on how this compares? Dont do photo editing or anything like that so no real need for that kind of stuff but do like that the spectre folds 360. Again any comments would be appreciated. TIA

I have been searching for a laptop with similar specs to this for a while. Couple of weeks ago went for the xps 15 oled screen. Now this one at this price was unexpected. Xps has its pluses but this price is hard to beat. I would return it and get this but already done tons of setup and I am lazy Smilie

I don't follow Vostro pricing, but this seems like a lot of horsepower for the money. That said, you may not need this much power and if the 360 design is appealing to you, maybe keep your eyes on deals for a Lenovo flex, spectre, or XPS 2 in 1. I personally think the new XPS 2 in 1 with 1065g7 cpu is a great little machine, but without the right deal is a bit more expensive.

I find Costco is a decent place to get your hands on a few different higher end machine to see what you like.

What's the benefit of this laptop? Is it thin and light like xps 15? Look pricey for the components

Yes, this is almost the same thinness as XPS15 and lighter! What other components by the way? these specs in these dimensions and weight with this price really hard to find..

All the i7 xps 15s I see are slightly more expensive than this. On dell's website, it's about 1600 for the new xps 15 w/ an i7. Same for the 2in1. The xps probably has better build material and quality though.

It seems like the xps 15 is slightly less heavy, but nothing noticeable imo.
