VA has much better contrast ratio but very poor viewing angles, something like 45-60° could be considered "good" with VA
IPS has more accurate color reproduction in that it can get much brighter, assisting saturation. And the viewing angle is typically 178°

It does have FreeSync. Originally the monitor did not but all models manufactured in Sept. 2019 and after have it included and any before that can get it from a firmware update:

VA for image quality is comparable to IPS with some strong areas for each. 3000:1 contrast compared to 1000:1 isn't as remarkable as people think, if I'm buying a monitor for 144hz though, VA isn't great on pixel response times. Smeary for movement but you'll still have a really premium desktop experience if high refresh rate windows 10 is your thing. Some people play games at a high level though and this monitor wouldn't be great for it. Having played esports for so long it's so easy to tell the difference in the panel types. VA's best refresh rate is about 100hz (depending on the manufacturer because they have variations.) IPS hits 144-165 with barely any smearing which is why we get the "no ips no buy" comments pretty often. Some people are looking for a sweet spot of, resolution, high refresh, good response times, good colors, AND good contrast. IPS checks the most boxes it's the true all-arounder for the monitor enthusiast right now. TN if you are a pro gamer tho, no doubt about it. I personally own one of each and have them all on the same desk lol, my VA is for movies, the TN for competitive games and my IPS for color work.

Looks like Best Buy is also automatically adding the GC to your cart when you select one of the open box models.

Good catch, would spring for that if there were an open box less than 20 bucks below the new price.

Pretty sure there's no freesync so u should edit that out. I don't know how Samsung forgot that tech, huge missing feature for a nice minimal design monitor

Nice find! Wow I just bought a monitor too. I would've definitely bought this a month ago had I known.

Gaems M270.TN 1440p 144hz freesync. Lesser name but it works great for $180. Just an ugly and bulky stand taking up too much desk space. I might get this for the space saving aesthetic. Just the 4ms lag is turning me off. not sure if VA is that much better looking

You can get a VESA mount for space saving aspect.

Edit: to be clear this comment was not about the monitor in this post, you cannot use VESA with this Samsung. I was commenting about another one someone brought up.

How is VA compare to IPS? Can it be used on the desk like a normal monitor or does it have to be mounted?
