Is this good for holding assorted general tools such as hammers, screwdrivers, a drill, etc? I bought their smaller cases and they barely fit anything medium sized thanks to their compartments

I paid $25.72 each in June online HD for these. Bought two and they are great. Very sturdy.

Its 21x12x16 almost.

That's a lot of storage space.

I disagree, the weak link is the little latch that clips various cases together. I broke one.
Now if they would just make a longer case that would fit my longer tools (like big plumbing wrenches and my DeWalt 20-Volt MAX Lithium-Ion Cordless Band Saw .
I'll grant you that, they are literally "the weakest link" throughout the whole product line, However, I'm lazy and old, I have two ToughSystem dolleys and 11 wall racks and can honestly say I haven't really utilize those clips. Plus, when they are brand spankin' new they are a PITA!

I have none in this set, but am looking for a box to transport all my cordless power tools in. Was always thinking the rigid set would be ideal. Anyone had both large boxes?

I bought then too. Still sitting in my tool room empty. Since the cart is so expensive and there's no clip on wheels it's just a tool box I suppose but I use soft bags for all my tools.

Curious what you're using yours for?

Tools that get knocked around that shouldn't. Having tried both styles, these are water, dust and moisture resistant. They stand up to sharp edges like blades, saws, framing squares.
They stand up to crushing, which is a big deal if you carry a lot of various tools.

My wheeled version is my least used one. The jutting handle makes stacking inside the truck harder.

There's actually quite a good number of things that doesn't store well in these cases, and a few solutions to it. 24" pipe wrenches, for one. If you need that much leverage all the time, consider either the Milwaukee 2 piece pipe wrench, or just a 16" and a cheater bar.
I am however surprised the cordless band saw does not fit. (As stated by another person).

Crow bars, demo bars, etc. They will not fit.

I ordered one of these and a tote from HD. I prefer Lowes, as they give veterans discounts, but a slickdeal is a slick deal!
HD give 10% veterans discounts on all sales. Used it last night.

Only retired or active duty, per their policy, except on Independence Day, Veterans Day, and Memorial Day, when ALL veterans are eligible.
I put in 10 yrs, purpleheart, and honorably discharged, and the local manager told me he couldn't, per their company policy. If you are otherwise, then you got a good CSR. I was given a discount once there, but not the last couple times I mentioned it.
LOWE'S gives it every time, and even have it linked to my account so I don't have to ask.

For those in the know... are there any tools that will fit into the XL tool box and not the L tool box? Any practical experience on the differences between the two?

HD gives 10% Veterans discount.

edit: I see proudpoppag's response now.

Thought I should at least try to contribute further. Some details on discounts:
