Depends on your use case and how good a price you can get blades for. Most of the time, especially with metal, you end up using up the back end of the blade, leaving the front of the blade with perfectly good teeth. This lets you snap the back off then keep using the blade. In theory, you should be able to get 2x the use out of each of these. It's like getting twice the blades for the price.

Again though, it really comes down to the cost and how you are using them. With BF coming up, you will probably be able to find a better deal on regular blades (HD usually has some good Diablo deals this time of year, which will just as long as one of these without the break-away gimmick).

Also if you have a saw with an adjustable shoe (and as a GC, I would expect that's what you have, only really basic saws lack it) you can just extend out the shoe and use the rest of the blade for longer blades.

Useful for metal cutting. Especially if the bulk of your cutting is below 3-4". You still need the extra "length" for a guide

The flexvolt recip saw lacks adjustable shoe, 20v compact xr lacks it too but yet the 20v brushed recip saw has it! Drives me insane. Love dewalt but it makes no sense that the oldest recip saw has more features then there newer ones. Only one that has both 4 way clamp and adjustable shoe and flexvolt has neither

Really? Wow. Kind of surprised by that. I know it's missing on the brushed kit recip (one of the "extras" they took off for kit versions). Did not realize the higher end saws didn't have it as well.

No wonder they make these blades!

Random question: does anyone know where I could purchase a good recip saw blade holder (like the one offered in this deal)? I do t need the blades as I just bought some cheap blades (just for using around the yard) and would love to store them in this dewalt holder or something similar.

You might consider making one or do a Google search for "Reciprocating Saw Blade Case". They seem to be running about $7 to $12.

yup, this is the exact reason i didn't get any of the new Dewalt recip saws and went with Octane stuff... not being able to move the shoe or remove it entirely is a horrible idea.

Yea it sucks but i still got it cuz i have a ridiculous amount of other dewalt tools and batteries so it made no sense for me to get anything else and i use it all for construction use

Wouldn't a school supply pencil box for a buck or two work?
