Didn't see this posted although it's apparently been available since the beginning of the month. Samsung Pay now has a debit card account where you can load money from debit, credit or bank accounts and make purchases instead of using a bank card. If you sign up and then upgrade to the full account (which is free), they will add $5 to your account. Then you can send the money by using the new debit card for payments as you would any other card in Samsung Pay. Obviously this is only available to people who have Samsung phones that support Samsung Pay.

I found the upgrade link by clicking on "Add money" and then clicking on the "Bank transfer" tab). After I did that, I had $5 on my card.

They charge 3% for adding money from your credit card, 25c for adding from a debit card but it's apparently currently being waived.

I'm pretty sure adding funds from the bank should be free. Just the fees apply when you add money through a card.

A reason to use this is that this is similar to Privacy. You might have a sketchy website that you want to buy something from and don't want to put your real credit card information. Instead, you create one of these Samsung info where you can only put $10 into it just for your order of $9.99. This way, even if your card is hacked, stolen, etc, you cannot be charged more than $10. This specific Samsung Card also gives you all 16 digits to the credit card so you can make purchases ONLINE and INSTORE as well.

Any card you add to Samsung Pay works with magnetic stripe readers, not just this specific Samsung Pay card. Samsung Pay (in my honest opinion) has always been better than Apple Pay. It does work almost everywhere, there's free points once a while, and tons of points to redeem free stuff. On top of that, there's cashback, discounts on giftcards and etc.
Are there ways to convert the points into free stuff? I have not used SP in months since they got rid of the gift cards you could cash out for. Yes, there's free Samsung stuff if you collect enough points but even with maxing out points every quarter I never came close to that amount. And of course they decreased the number of points you could earn.

Yes privacy is nice but your example of putting $10 on the card for a $9.99 purchase would work only if it was the only purchase you were making or if there were a way to get multiple cards (to effective make it a single use card number). I don't think you can do that.

I did use Samsung Pay as a portal to Groupon yesterday to get 40% back. First time I used it like that. Just realized that I should have bought a second Groupon before the 40% ended.

And the real issue is that most people want to get some sort of a credit card rebate on their purchases. In order to do that with Samsung Pay Cash, you've got to pay 3% to load the money which really reduces its usefulness.

Samsung Points can be used on Samsung.com to buy accessories, phones and etc. Redeeming points for the prizes in Samsung Rewards is a total rip off and completely overpriced.

What I did last time was with the Samsung 10000 mah portable charger was to use all my points for it which basically meant I got the charger for free. I get points from their reward hunt, getting a few points from purchases, and a bit more from gift card purchases.

I feel that Samsung is just rolling out this card and $5 promo to get people to use it first (and gather decent sizes customer size first). Then slowly, they might add more features and things to it. Currently, it does feel pretty useless. But it's free $5

They are doing it to compete with the Apple pay card. The card is so you can use Samsung pay any where and not just places that havethe nfc scanners at the registers. Them charging for adding finds though kills it IMO I shouldn't be charged for them to be able to see my shopping habits.
Thanks. My thinking is I hardly ever pay cash or use a debit card because there is no cash back. Most places accept Samsung Pay and if not, I use a physical credit card.

Thanks for helping me to understand. I can actually use this then. I use Swagbucks and there are always sketchy deals you can sign up for to make money. Usually people use prepaid cards in case the company decides to charge more. But not all companies allow you to use prepaid cards. But if I had this card, I could use it. Or if I sign up for a free subscription, then when using this card to pay, they can only get what cash you have loaded on the card. This might be a good thing then.

I wonder how long it would take the cash to get to your card once you do the transfer from your bank? Would it take a day, 2 days, be instant? I feel if loading from your checking acct it would be free.

So they will also supply a physical card to you also? Or do you just get the 16 digits, 3 digit code and exp?..just trying to figure out how it would be used online.

I love Samsung Pay also. I would never get a new cell phone unless it had Samsung Pay on it.

Anyone else having issues registering?

I go upper right and click promotions and see the deal there. I click on 'register now' and it takes me to Google Play and asks me to open the app. I open the app and I'm taken back to the 'register now' page. It keeps looping and I can't register. Oh well, so much for that. lol

Unfortunately, this is an all online type of service. No physical card. If you click on the card, click "view information" next to Virtual account number, you will get your 16 digits, expiration, and CVC there.

If you are interested in something similar, Paypal offers one of these cards where you can pay online and have a physical card where your paypal balance / bank can be linked and used to pay.

If you are interested in more security, you should use Privacy. You can create cards, pause them anytime you want, set a maximum limit for daily, monthly, yearly, total, per transaction. You can also create one time use cards. There are lot of promos to get $5, but SD rule doesn't allow me. I watch LTT.

I felt that way until they made the points almost worthless.

I've never been into the points. I just enjoy being able to use my phone instead of digging out my credit card. They also have some good promotions from time to time, and discounted gift cards and higher store cash back at times.

I'll have to check out privacy.com. I've seen that mentioned a lot. Thanks again!!

Using beta too and had no issues.

You might actually have to call Samsung Pay with that specific number.

I've bought several things with Cash Back deals... including a mattress from Sears, which netted me like $125 in cash back. Up to now... I could only spend that cash on gift cards within the Samsung Pay app. Now i can put that cash on the debit card, and just spend it the same as I would any other linked credit card.
How do you transfer cash back to this Samsung cash debit card? I only see an option to redeem for a new debit card or gift cards.
