I had to open this thread up because I figured Amazon would deviously sell the more expensive individual releases first and then come with a better deal for the whole set soon after, just like most retailers engineer sales to sell the inferior releases first at higher prices before they have a sale on the superior release. I hope lots of people return their recently bought individual sets to Amazon via Kohl's to discourage retailers from price shenanigans like this, but Amazon is so big I doubt they notice or care.

Years ago I bought most of the individual sets for about $15 each, and while I liked some of the movies, I was never a big fan of all of them. I bought Creature 3D separately and didn't consider it worth buying the 2 disc set for $15 to get the other 2 films. I'm missing a few others, but at this point I'll say "eh, close enough" (like Homer Simpson at the end of the Time and Punishment episode of Treehouse of Horror 5).

I've reached the point of studios and retailers doing so much multi-dipping that I just can't handle any more. If I didn't own several individual releases (all unopened) I'd buy this, but I won't. I also learned I can't sell anything I buy, still shrinkwrapped, on eBay or at a garage sale for even close to what I paid. I used to foolishly buy the better editions thinking I could sell off my old ones for what I paid. Nope. I have bad luck and ended up stuck with everything.

I just bought the 6 individual collections for $90 on the prior slickdeal. I initially thought I should return them for this. I thought this set consisted of those 6 plus a single Phantom of the Opera bluray. However my 6 individual sets come to 36 films:

8 Frankenstein
6 Dracula
7 Wolfman
6 Mummy
6 Invisible Man
3 Creature From The Black Lagoon

What's missing in this "Complete" collection?

There's a whole bunch of repeats in those sets, such as "Abbott And Costello Meet Frankenstein" which includes Dracula and the Wolfman, so it shows up multiple times.

The only "new" movies are the inessential 1943 "Phantom Of The Opera," the essential 1931 Spanish "Dracula." Definitely not worth buying considering you already own virtually the whole thing.

I think there is some overlap in the collections. Based on the Amazon listing, it contains your 6 collections (with the same listed film counts for each), plus Phantom of the Opera, which adds up to 37 films.

Yes a few films on each collection double up on other. I just checked on each individual and matched them up and all 30 films will be represented here from the individual sets. Go ahead return and pick this up for cheaper and you get phantom also \o/

Yep says 48 page book - but might just be a pamphlet/magazine type thing, but the pic looks bookish

Worth it for Abbott and Costello alone. Everything else is gravy

Picked this up last year at this price. Wonderful set that is worth every penny. Getting so many duplicate discs is the only weird part, but at least you have backups.
