*Solved - My Yahoo page won't load up.

1,660 306 September 10, 2005 at 03:15 PM
I can't seem to solve this problem, or find any info on it anywhere... but then, I'm not as tech savy as some of you folks.

Here is the problem:
The last few days or so, I can't seem to load My Yahoo page. All other pages, including other yahoo pages, such as yahoo mail, work just fine. I usually use firefox, but I have the same problem when using IE or Opera, all updated versions. Also, I can access the page at work.

I'm running XP and McAfee Security Suite... both running well for a while. I can think of no "new" activities that I've done in the past few days that could have caused this.

Any ideas?

Care to share the URL of the page you can't load?

What is the exact error condition or message you get?

Well, the url is http://my.yahoo.com/ (I feel kind of stupid writing that... I'm sure I'm supposed to write something else too.)

There is no error message. It just loads up a completely blank page. Just completely white. The status bar at the bottom says done. Reloading just brings back the blank page.

Thanks for looking Xnarg.

Try this for IE and let me know what happens. You are going to want to clear your cache and cookies. Open up IE. Click on Tools->Internet Options. Click "Delete Files" and put a check mark in the box to delete all offline content. Then click "Delete Cookies" and then "OK" again. Then close the browser or reload (F5) the page.

I did exactly as instructed. When I reload the page it brings me to the login/new user page and asks me to log in. I do and again I get the completely blank white page.

Thanks for the help. Maybe some yahoo hating virus has infected my computer.

check your hosts file (search here/google gets exact location) and see if there's something funky in there.

Ok, I had no idea what a hosts file was, but I googled it and figured it out. I found mine and it looked ok, but just in case, I altered it with one that's supposed to block ads etc. The good news is my pages seem to download a lot faster. The bad news is... I still have the same white no load page for the my yahoo.

Though my problem is not solved... I appreciate everyone's help. You guys are smart.

The problem is with Yahoo, not your pc. http://ths.gardenweb.com/forums/l...15313.html

Try going here instead of my.yahoo.com:
