I have this vacuum. It is great for carpet, mediocre for hardfloors. Since my house is 99% hardfloors I had to buy another one. Per vacuumwars on youtube, I opted for the Shark P50 which is their top rated next to the Dyson V11. I got the Shark P50 for $149 on Costco B&M on clearance. I love it.

If they had a huge battery or an efficient motor people would complain they're too heavy or underpowered... you can't have it all in an economically priced product. The V10/V11 can last up to an hour and more, which I don't think anyone else can match.. but they're also $500-800.

I'd save myself $100. Basically the only thing you gain with the V8 is a little longer battery life because they have a slightly bigger battery. Even in the side-by-side comparisons you don't see much of any 'cleaning power' difference between the v6/v7/v8 - it's not until you start looking at the v10/v11 you see a little difference but even then it's hard to justify spending 3-4 times as much vs this $200 V7.

The difference is so minimal I doubt anyone would notice in reality. They're all pretty effective vs other stick vacs.

As neat as the V11 is, F paying $700+ for a vacuum...
It was $400 at Bed Bath and Beyond with the 20% off coupon. Just got it there last week.

You can still get it for $480 right now.

Or price match it with newegg and then it will be $500 then take off 20% with the coupon.

The V10 and V11s 1hr runtime claim is only on low power with a non-motorized tool... which is basically how it will never be operated. When you add a motorized tool like torque drive or fluffy head, the battery run-time drops in half.

Your prices are a bit high too, you are using the MSRP which they rarely sell at. If you open a chat window, they will easily give you 20% off and include a free $150 Dok. You can get the V10 Motorhead for $400 and V11 Animal for $480 right now. I paid $400 for my V10 Absolute with torque head, fluffy head, and dok. $200 extra is a lot, but it includes a much more powerful motor, better battery and $150 Dok [dyson.com].

You are right, the power difference between the V6/V7/V8 is not very noticeable at all. The V10/V11 makes a big difference. But the price difference is not nearly as much as you are claiming.

I've got a V6 and I friggin love it. Different motorheads for hard wood floor & carpet, motorized tool for pet hair when needed (we have a bunny and it works great), I use it to clean the car all the time, great suction that never slows down. I've had the thing die on me (without warning, because again, the suction is always 100% until the battery is depleted) once in the two years I've had it. I usually clean a small bit at a time so the battery life on these works for me.

If I have hardwood floors what specifically would I need to add to this purchase to get the fluffy thing for those floors? Would it be worth the extra cost? I'm having trouble figuring this out thanks. Also will this hurt my hardwood floors with out the fluffy options?

Both heads are safe on hard woods. The point of the fluffy head is that it can remove fine dust from a smooth surface better than a brush can. Basically, a swiffer picks up more dust than a broom.

Personally I think its worth the cost, but others disagree. The motorhead will pick up 90% of the dust that the fluffy head does and perform much better on carpet. The main level on my house is 100% hardwood so I use the fluffy head exclusively. If I had a mix of carpet and wood, Id only use the motorhead. The hassle of swapping heads is not worth the small difference in cleaning ability.

Ours stopped to, but google the fix. A pencil eraser to clean the contacts and we are back in business!
