Amazon has the Travelpro Platinum Magna 2 Carry-On Suiter Suitcase in Black and Olive for $111.99 with coupon applied. The Travelpro Platinum Magna 2 was replaced by the Travelpro Platinum Elite that 's priced between $200-$250. The Magna 2 is being cleared out and it sold at various times for about $250 -> $200 -> $180 -> $140 -> and now $112. Discount stores sell 21" carry-on luggage all day at $100 but the quality of this one is noticeably higher so I don't see the price getting any lower.

Love the wheel design. The spinners lose about 1" of space.

Personally, I've never had a problem with a similar 22" domestically as long as the expansion isn't used. The suitcase fits wheels out on a 737-700, but won't fit the overhead of smaller regional jets. Overseas, it's too big to pass. I stick with a 19".

The prop 65 is a turn off though:

WARNING: This product can expose you to chemicals including Cadmium which is known to the State of California to cause birth defects or other reproductive harm.

The cadmium would likely be in the coating on the handle and/or zippers which increases exposure risk due to the likelihood of touching them. TravelPro's FAQ on prop 65 isn't comforting either; they are essentially unwilling to test their products for compliance.

Great price. Travelpro is my go to for luggage, it's light and durable. I've had my Maxlite 2 for about 8 years now.

This is too big for most foreign airlines for carryon. It may be too big for even some domestic airlines (or they may make you check it at the gate when it' busy).

Damn, this is SUPER cheap. I got an open box Crew 11 for $130 last year. These things are built like tanks!

Note, domestically this should be fine - but as mentioned, may not fit in smaller regional jets (i.e. 2x2, or 1x2).

I've had my TravelPro Platinum 4SE 22" carry-on for decades now and if it were worn out I would pick this up at this price, but it's still in great shape for all the wear I've done globally.

As mentioned, only the smaller jets (4 seats across) won't accommodate this size but they gate check them when I use one of those jets on a leg of my journeys.

What's the difference between this at the one recommended here? https://thewirecutter.com/reviews...d-luggage/

I picked up the spinner version for $140 a few weeks ago from Amazon; there have been coupons appearing and disappearing on all of their products. Saw a coupon for the Platinum Elite as well, but didn't think the differences were worth $50.

Already used this for two trips and I'm pretty happy with it. Fit way more than I thought I would, even with the smaller space due to spinners. I haven't had the tilting-over issue some people have complained about even with a laptop back on top. Only complaints are the handle takes up a lot of space internally and the outside "business pocket" thing isn't designed particuarly well. Hard to get into and adds a ton of thickness. I'd rather use my laptop bag to carry my notepad and laptop, especially since they still might make you gatecheck your bag with a bad boarding #.

This model is the previous generation. TravelPro updated this bag with some newer features to improve it like larger wheels, USB charging port, and a built in TSA lock.

You should adjust this thread to be more than just the one you listed. It applies to many different Travelpro bags.

Lots of good deals to be found, just look for the coupon in the listing.

Hey, first roller bag I've seen on FP in years.

I ended up getting the TravelPro Maxlite 4 for like $55 as a cosmetic 2nd on Amazon. Good bag.

Sorry 22" looks too big at the gate and the Hawks at airlines, domestic or foreign, will pounce at you.
