Umm...at this price, get the oled 77" ...No brainer for most
The Q90 gives OLED a good run for the money. And this is 5" bigger, size matters

I would say if you are using it as a computer monitor or display where parts of the screen infrequently change (constant news watching for example, camera systems, etc), I would go with this. It's prob about the closest in quality to an OLED you will find in LED. It also has freesync, not sure about the LG on that.

How are subtitles? Does the screen brightness change when subtitles appear? How are sports? Gaming? Would you still choose this over an LG OLED C9 77"?

Honestly when televisions get this big, why not just go for a projection screen?

Sunlit room, watching during the day. I've got two shades wide open right now. Casual watching basically. But I do love a good projector at night.

I don't own this tv.

The cost of a projector that will match the picture quality of Q90 or an X950 is going to be higher, sunlit rooms, mounting a projector in the living room with vaulted ceilings, running cables through the attic to ceiling mount, listening to projector fan noise in quite scenes, wall mounting a screen. There are many reasons why people would consider a TV over a projector when reaching into the 70-80+ range. If you want 90-100+ inches then a projector becomes the only option without taking out a loan.

WoW!! This is a hell of a deal! I bought the 75" Q8 last year for $2,200. This TV here would give you top notch picture quality and would make an excellent theater screen.

Purchased the 75" Q80R from a few weeks ago from Samsung site at EPP pricing of $1,999. Delivered last week and I'm incredibly happy with it. I've had deal notifications set up in hope of finding an "upper level" QLED (starting with a Q8 or Q9). First "brand new" larger screen television I've purchased in about 7 years (since a 70" HD Sony which is now in our loft area). Also bought a nice floor model 4K Samsung 65" (un65ju7100) for $350 from AAFES store in the spring of 2017, which is now in the garage as the latest tv, the 75" Q80R, has taken center stage in the family room (where I watch my sports and movies). I purchased a new 4K 55" Sony 850 ($700 also in 2017) for the bedroom but Sony's colors really just don't pop for me.
Now that we have a tv for the garage (going to be an all purpose hangout area..... tv/karaoke/bar/video games/computer room, etc.). Now I'm running out of places to tell my boss (my wife) that we need another television! 😂
The new tv should quell my tv urge for quite a while though!
If I didn't pull the trigger on that deal, I probably would have convinced myself to jump on this one. Although if I did, I probably would have had to move my huge sectional sofa back and take up more usable space. There is a certain distance you should be back from televisions in order to view the best quality picture, and of course that distance grows with larger screens!

always amazed by these comments...
shows a real lack of understanding about setting up a projector and screen under proper conditions.
