Yep. It's almost like lightning in a bottle. The acting, plot, dialogue...it's nearly flawless. So many times in "good" movies there's some annoying character, dumb joke, or ridiculous scenario that makes u roll your eyes and pulls u out of the movie. Not here. Excellent! I wish it was possible to erase it from my memory so I could experience for the first time again. Lol.

Attack the Block was very good. If you don't mind thick British accents, definitely give it a shot.

But I also liked Tusk, so there you have it.

Maybe hijacking the thread a bit but have you seen the newer one? While you can do more interesting things with the digital effects, the older practical effects are just way better imo. Never thought I would say that. Using a real amputee to make an arm tearing off effect more real is way more shocking than the computer version.

I agree with this. The 2011 prequel was actually solid in plot, decent in acting, and did well to line up just about perfectly with the original. It's just a shame they went the CGI route. If they'd emulated the original's efforts towards practical effects, I think it actually could have been a pretty good film.

The Thing (2011) prequel seemed pretty good too. Not sure why they named it exactly the same thing. Many thought it was a remake. The 1982 version is the best.

I'm one of those Luddites who likes physical media, because I think it looks and sounds better on my home theater system. If anyone cares Amazon has the Blu-Ray [amazon.com] for about $6. Five bucks for digital HD for a great movie (top 10 all time for me) is still a great deal, thanks OP.

We friends watched The Thing on re-released or some special release in 94-95 even when we were in high school.
And we couldn't sleep for few days.
It's atmosphere and acting, cinematography, locations and everything was so good. They just can't make it movie like that.

Didn't bother since the reviews were bad and thought it was a remake. Might check it out
