As a fellow long time Mi Box user I can attest to the improvements in Android TV. They started off glitchy but functional and are now very slick and smooth interface. I remember side loading apps and now we can cast even Amazon Prime TV. Android TV keeps evolving.
Thanks for the additional feedback, debunking misconceptions

I would assume the latest version, Android TV 8.1.0

You wont really need a fire stick this TV is android based so there is not much you cant do with this TV that you cant do with a firestick.
I second his statement

About the same. The 55S405 was $315 two years ago. I bet it's lower this BF.
Ironic you mentioned that b/c my current 55" TV is the 55S405 which I purchased from Target on the Sunday before BF for $315+tax in 2017. With this Hisense 58", it would either be replacing it or I would re-purpose the 55S405 for another room.

Good find. Sharp does seem better brand. One thing here sharp says USB port can be used as Media player

Thanks. Sharp TV says it has Media player function on USB port. So $20 more for sharp...

Sharp with $20 more which also says media player on USB. Hisense might also have it just not written.

Hisense owns Sharp. I would be willing to bet those two tv s are the same with small differences in appearance.

Sharp TV no longer exists. In fact when Sharp sold their shares to Hisense, they actually turned around and sued them because the quality went down the drain.

I am moving in the next 2 weeks and not sure exactly which address, but this is such a good size and price and it has Android TV Frown

Would I be better off putting this on Layaway or should I wait until Black Friday/Cyber Monday?

Also does this TV have voice search?

I think you could put it on Layaway then not buy it, just return it and at most you're out your $5 to put it on.

Looks like layaway is only available in store, not online

Probably Google reduced licensing fee for Android after Roku and apple announcement of Apple TV
app on roku.
We will see if other brands do it by thanks giving.
