in terms of those consistently asked questions, such as ram upgradeability - it's only a few that will always ask. the majority will use the laptop as is. for those few that really want to upgrade, they can do the research. most general specs are already posted (such as weight). if they can't find it, I don't think it's the responsibility of the OP to spend all their time hunting down answers. i'm just glad they're sharing the deal to begin with.

in my experience, there have generally been two types of computer buyers - those who know exactly what they want down to every detail and are never happy with the deals posted, and those who don't care to know every little detail and just want a good deal that fit their needs.

you can never satisfy the first type. for the second type, you can generally find out the gist by reading the thread or reviews. if it shows up on SD front page and fits within your budget/needs, you can't really go too wrong. it only becomes an issue if they feel like they have to find "the one". i only have one thing to say to that - just pick one that you like and spend your time on something else more important.

Looks like a good deal. FYI: If you do not need WIndows Pro, and are okay with Windows Home, you can reduce the cost further to $746.25.

no such thing as future proofing technology. find one with features that you currently need, otherwise you're paying a hefty premium for features that either aren't in common use or you may/may not use.

examples:
1. buying a 5g phone when you live in an area without 5g, "just in case". the phone itself will be outdated before you can really take advantage of it.
2. 8k tvs.

The 1050 is much faster, but this laptop is very thin and light, so that's the trade-off

Is there any restocking fee on returning laptop? Also do we need to ship by our own expense? Any idea?

Thinking to buy and keep it till Black Friday to see any good deal
Have the same question. I literally just bought a laptop and I would like to swap it for this one.

With that being said, gtx 1050 is still not really capable of running AAA titles smoothly.

If all you do is play indie games & moba games like LoL, the mx250 is very capable for that.

This is i7 model and there is i5 model too. I5 model doesn't come with mx250 so be careful. The i5 is $20 more expensive.

The selling point of this laptop is the weight. It is light weight laptop with mx250 that should be fine for most office or personal purpose and comes with 14" monitor. However, if you plan to play heavy games, don't even try.

i'd pull the trigger if I don't have 4 laptops.

"The selling point of this laptop is the weight."

Thank you! I love SD. But shopping for a laptop here is getting more and more difficult. There are not so subtle and subtle difference between the machine and those are rarely if even explained up front.

For example, you saying it's all about weight. That's explains a lot. Or something as simple as expanding the RAM gets asked every time. Can't we just add that to the OP?

I believe on the mobiile site, top comments are sorted to the top. That does not happen on desktop. Maybe it should?

Don't get me wrong. I love SD. I tell people about it all the time. That said, for certain products there do seem to be a set of questions that consistently get asked in the comments. Seeing those up front saves time hunting for the answers, etc.
