I know this holds true for refrigerators, was not aware these were also to be avoided.

I thought this was common knowledge. Look up their refrigerators I believe there's a class action lawsuit going on. Their appliances are deplorable and that's putting it nicely.

Interesting....
I m also in the market for a new washer & dryer set and thought that Samsung was worst but this article contradicts that. Would be interesting to hear comments from others.

The black stainless peels off. I have a fridge, dishwasher and stove by Samsung. It is all peeing and not covered. Stay away.

I have a French door refrigerator and a convection microwave by Samsung and a little over 2 years both appliances failed. If you're gonna try your luck with a Samsung product make sure that you have a great warranty for when you start experiencing issues. I made the mistake of buying mine at bestbuy and from experience their geek squad warranty mainly repairs and does not exchange 90% of the issues you will encounter.

Many of friends say LG is the best for washer and dryer. They also say not to buy Samsung appliances.

Also, I'm sure there are a few people who think the thin film is the final finish but it's actually the initial protective plastic when they deliver the appliance. I'll update when I get it and see if its good.

Just say no to Samsung appliances. If you buy any, count yourself lucky if they last through the warranty period (which, of course, Samsung will go out of its way to make a living hell experience for you after the second or third claim).

The last one I dealt with was my mother's dishwasher. Granted, it did a relatively good job cleaning dishes when it worked. However, having to replace the main circuit board every couple of months was ... annoying. Having to deal with Samsung on warranty issues was ... infuriating, especially when after the 2nd claim they decided it was "user error". After all, "user error" is apparently a logical reason for repeated dying circuit boards in a dishwasher, isn't it? Maybe she was pushing the buttons too hard or something...

And I refuse to even speak about her Samsung refrigerator or range. She still has the POS range (with the touchpad that malfunctions every other time she convection bakes/broils anything due to steam getting up in it) and the oven bulb that can't be replaced without using pliers when the glass breaks off (despite having replaced the socket three times).

Samsung appliances are the "Ford Pintos" of the appliance world.

Specifically as to the Samsung washing machines, there has been an issue with the "spider arm" contraption that spins the drum. Apparently in some of their older editions, the connections would deteriorate and the drum would basically fall off of the spindle.

There were huge threats of class action lawsuits . . . Samsung denied it was an issue . . . all kinds of stuff like that.

I would certainly hope that that has been corrected by now, but I have not seen any literature that says it does.

With that having been said, I have had a Samsung front loader for over 9 years and it has been working fine. This is in a family with four children where we do probably 15 to 20 loads a week. (We have slowed down some with kids going off to col\ege and life etc) But, if it would have broken, it should have by now!

I'm just wondering if I get a new set, if they will still fit on the same bases that I have. I certainly don't want to buy new bases.

I have a set of Frigidaire I bought like 6-7 years ago and still working flawless. Just I replaced the water pump from the washer who cost me around 20. Good one I fix it myself if not sometimes is better just buy a replacement bc usually technicians charges the same than buy a new one xD
