I just received an email for this deal. Not aware of any discounts from yesterday.

Be better if it came with a power cord as well.

As somone who just purchased this deal (3 weeks ago directly from vilros) i would reccomend against it, and dont understand why it was front page. These cases are obsolete because the pi 4 requires a fan. Then in my case you add in the cost of power cord $10, heatsink $4, sd card $8, mini hdmi-hmdi adapter $5, and after overheating issues a case with a fan $10.
Your better off buying the starter kit with everything youd need, it will save you money and time.

Thank you. I have been waiting for a sale and hate the "case tax". Didn't realize the fan requirement.

With that, please excuse my lack of knowledge, but since I'm here....

Have they fixed the usb-c issues rev1 had? I assume that's why this doesn't come with a cord/"power cord $10".

As a reference point, with the enclosed vilros case, the pi4 temp is topping out at 66C playing a 4k video in libreelec. The room is around 23C. This usage is far from needing a fan, Removing the top of the case would cool it down quite a bit more.

The pi4 doesn't require a fan unless you are doing high load processes.

Edit:
Did a little more testing playing MPEG2 from the antenna as the Pi4 decodes this with the CPU:
With enclosed vilros case = 74-78C depending what is on the screen (movement)
With 1 side of the case off = 66-71C depending on screen

I don't often play MPEG2, but I'll leave the case off the Pi4 and the temp will be fine for my use.

Also be aware that the pi 4 uses micro HDMI, another cable needed that would be nice in the kit. PSU and micro HDMI are a must.

References are good. https://slickdeals.net/share/android_app/fp/504883 here is the original deal thread directly through vilros that has allot of useful information in the comments. It seems the overall consensus is that this is not a good deal.. Regardless of front page status.
My recommendation, if the pi 3b+ works for your needs, stick with it. If you need the pi 4, (which most agree they dropped the ball on) get the starter kit and the 4gb model. This deal is just giving you a free case that you could buy for a few dollars. I feel buyers remorse, got hooked on the front page status when it was only 5 comments deep. Wont return though, live and learn.

Pi4 hardware decodes for hevc and 4k. The Pi3+ does NOT.

The case is not worth much, but can be used without throttling the Pi4. I personally bought with the case before searching the same site and finding the Pi4 is also sold separately. It is good because of free shipping.

Saying you need a fan with the Pi4 is wrong. FYI, without a case, the Pi4 is around 50C playing h264 (hardware decodes). This is my normal usage.

This is not an argument. Just do some research and make your own conclusion. My conclusion is that to use the raspberry pi 4 at its potential, you need a fan. As i stated prior, IF the 3b+ fits your needs, I would stick with it. With your logic, running the unit at 1/4 its potential doesnt require a fan... I guess that could be said about all computers.

I had edited my first post to include software decoding temps for MPEG2.
