This is a good buy. I think I paid $139 for my eight quart on black Friday last year.

I cook a lot of legumes, which expand quite a bit and that always concerned me with the 6 quart model. Really happy with the eight quart one, although it's huge.

Oooh, the Ultra does sous vide too. I just bought an IP a few months ago.. wish I'd waited.

Easy sous vide cooking. It sounds fancy, but the Instant Pot makes it easy. With a generally hands-off approach to cooking, the Ultra is taking it one step further. Cooking sous vide in the IP doesn't require a circulator to keep the water moving while cooking which is the trick to sous vide in the first place. Instead, it holds the water at the proper temperature for desired cooking within a five degree range, making it pretty precise and pretty failproof.

i have been contemplating on getting the 8qt foodi, but the size is a little bit of a concern to me.
putting the airfrying feature aside, is there anything else that I will miss out on if I can this IP Ultra compared to getting the Foodi?

Lowest price per the camel. Average is $158. In for one.
I'm a bit concerned about the size but my wife has a 6 qt slow cooker and it sometimes is on the small side of what we need.
Can't imagine the extra size would be a detriment? (That's what she said)

I don't have this specific one, but the slightly less fancy version of this instant pot does great with rice and is very easy. I can't imagine a (usually) more expensive one would do worse.

Depending on your model, there may be rice button (designed for white rice). Because it is a pressure cooker, you do a 1:1 ratio. You can read more on their official site, or the MANY different "recipes" out there for it. https://instantpot.com/how-to-coo...re-cooker/

I am also looking to upgrade from a 6 to an 8 but am wondering if others have done this already..... is the 8 just too big? We're basically growing out of the 6 but I don't want to get an oversized behemoth either
