Well, this is disappointing. My Uber Visa Card is my go-to card for shopping, but just got an email a few minutes that it is being seriously neutered.

Currently, you get:

1% all purchases
2% on all online purchases
3% on all Uber/Hotel/Travel purchases
4% on all restaurant purchases

This rewards could be used for gift cards or straight cashback (directly deposited into your checking account, statement credit, etc).

You also got a $50 yearly subscription credit on services like Netflix, Pandora, Hulu, etc. after spending $5,000.

All of that is going away (for me at least, starting with Feb 2020 billing cycle). Now you get:

Quote :
Go out or stay in
5% back in Uber Cash on all your Uber and JUMP rides and your favorite meals through Uber Eats

Travel and dine in style
3% back in Uber Cash on hotels, airfare, takeout, restaurants and bars

Earn at every turn with your card
1% back in Uber Cash on all other purchases
You only can get/use Uber Cash after the switchover:

Quote :
When you earn rewards with your Uber Credit Card, starting with your billing period in February 2020, they'll come in the form of Uber Cash. You can redeem for Uber rides, Uber Eats, or rides with JUMP bikes and scooters. Uber Cash never expires.

Up until 24 hours before your product changes, you can continue to redeem your points for gift cards or statement credits as well as Uber Cash. When your product changes, any unredeemed points will be converted to Uber Cash.
WTH is going on with all these CC regressions?

at least they are not getting rid of the cell phone protection
I just quickly read through the changes. They are implying they will change (probably reduce) right?

Just got it as well. From one of my favorite cards to absolutely worthless, like the Sallie Mae Barclaycard and Citi Forward. I hope a product change is possible because I very rarely use Uber.

Anyways this sucks. Anyone know of a 4% or 5% bars and restaurant card? I got an Uber Card earlier this year based on my research then. Hope they keep 0% foreign exchange fees I don't think I saw they were reducing/taking that away

Wow this sucks, way to nerf one of the best no-fee cards out there!

The chase sapphire reserve gives u 3pts for dining and traveling. Worth at least 1.5 cents a point if u use them to buy travel. Can be worth much more if u transfer to a partner and redeem for like 1st class tickets.

Afaik there is no 4% restaurant card that has $0 annual fee. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

Good thing I didnt waste a credit hit on this card. Wells Fargo cards and plenty of other cards are now also coming with cell-phone protection along with better bonuses.

5% back on Uber rides are useless as I top up my Uber account with gift cards at 10-20% off.

Yeah, it's unfortunate. It's by far my favorite card. I racked up $820 in rewards since September 2018 (the last time I redeemed points) so I guess I'll probably just cash 'em out soon. Sigh Frown
